The Normal realm, where mostly humans and a few hidden Abandoned reside, reeked of an unholy death. Its streets were overflowing with humans and their various pets. Darkness lingered over the Normal realm like a plague. Its energy had completely changed since her last visit years ago. Every human seemed to be on the verge of death. Their stench overwhelmed Amaris, who stood on top of a building in the middle of New York. She quickly scanned the area for Hanako, who seemed to be nowhere. Amaris closed her eyes and hummed to herself. Her mind cleared and the sounds of the bustling streets faded into nothing. Almost as if she stood in the middle of a large, empty, room, she sensed Hanako's presence on the other side of the world. Amaris opened her eyes with a scowl, she vanished in a column of golden fire. In the matter of seconds she appeared in the middle of a suburb in Osaka; Hanako's birthplace. The scent of death still lingered in the air. Amaris scowled as she looked around. Then the Earth spoke to her.
Find her.
Amaris clicked her tongue in annoyance, "I am trying!" She seethed through gritted teeth.
Do not let him find her.
"Who?" Amaris' brows furrowed in confusion.
"Me." A man suddenly appeared in front of her with a devilish grin, he punched her square in the face before she could process his sudden appearance.
Amaris flew backwards into a stone fence, she used the fence to propel herself forward. The stone wall immediately crumbled into nothing. The man held up his arms to defend himself from her attack. In one strike, the bones in both of his arms were broken beyond mortal repair. She held onto his broken arms as she simultaneously kicked him in the stomach. He flew backwards into another stone fence. Amaris approached him with a deranged expression.
"I will fucking slaughter you, mortal." She growled darkly in a distorted voice while blood dripped from her nose and cheek.
Never in her thousand years of living had she ever been struck by a being lesser than herself. Although Laura had caused her minimal pain, this would be her first time to bleed. The man smirked at her before turning into a pile of dirt. Amaris clicked her tongue in annoyance, but the Earth stopped her from pursuing him.
You must quickly find Hanako! He will most certainly kill her!
Amaris groaned loudly, "Little bird, come out, come out wherever you are. The Earth has so kindly asked me to find you. If you do not reveal yourself, I will destroy your quaint little town!" She boomed as she walked through the suburban streets.
Amaris struck the ground with her fist, which caused an earthquake to shake the Earth Osaka rested upon. She struck it again until the magnitude of her earthquake went from a 2.5 to a 6.5. Buildings began to collapse throughout the city as screams of terror filled the air. Amaris' expression turned malevolent when Hanako still did not appear.
"Very well," she shouted while humans ran through the streets, "everyone shall die."
Amaris stopped herself from striking the ground a third time, she sensed the Abandoned gate opening, which caused her to lift her head. Iria and Laura simultaneously walked through the gate a few feet in front of her. Laura nervously looked around when a small crowd of humans gathered around them with their communication devices raised. Iria stared at them blankly before clearing her throat.
"Agatha has several tasks to tend to, so she has yet to realize Hanako has returned to her birth realm. Laura relayed to me the details of your situation regarding the Earth. Time in the Normal realm is slower than the time in the Abandoned realm. I asked Alice to make the time in the Abandoned realm equivalent to the time here. However, I do not know how long Agatha will remain preoccupied. We must hurry and return Hanako to the Abandoned realm before she notices we have left as well." Iria explained with her hands behind her back.
Amaris blinked, "Hanako is in there." She threw her thumb over her shoulder in the direction of a house that had remained untouched by the earthquake.
Iria sighed, "Why did you create an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 when she resides a mere few meters away?!" She shouted at her in frustration.
Amaris blinked again, "Hanako's control over this planet is more powerful than I assumed. She is blocking me from entering her home with a shield of some sort. Two human children and an elderly woman are in there as well." She glanced up at Hanako, who had been watching her from a second story window.
Iria groaned before attempting to cross the barrier Hanako had created, she failed. Her eyes blackened with rage and she punched the invisible barrier with all her might. Her knuckles bled for the first time in centuries. She turned to Amaris with a stoic expression.
"Inform me of your situation again." Iria ordered as her fist immediately healed itself.
"To be simply put, I desired parlay with Hanako, however Laura interfered. While she distracted me from Hanako, she managed to escape into the Normal realm. Then the Earth lost its mind and ordered me to save Hanako from this man." Amaris shrugged her shoulders.
"What man?" Iria narrowed her eyes in suspicion.

Laura walked towards the barrier without a word, which caught both Iria and Amaris by surprise. They watched as she passed through Hanako's barrier with ease.
"Amaris." Iria turned to her while Laura boldly marched up to Hanako's front door.
"I am aware." Amaris grumbled as she spit a mixture of her blood and saliva on the cement as she rubbed her jaw.
After Laura knocked on the door with her head lowered, she waited patiently while nervously digging her nails into the palms of her hands. Hanako slowly opened the door with a blank expression, they stood in the doorway in an awkward silence. Hanako stepped to the side so Laura could enter, she gestured for her to come inside when Laura hesitated. She calmly followed Hanako through her surprising spacious home until they reached the dining room area.
"This is my grandma, Saito Himeko, and my cousins, Saito Haruki and Saito Haruka." Hanako introduced her last remaining family to Laura with a blank expression.
Laura stared at her intently, "Are they Abandoned?"
Hanako laughed dryly with an emotionless expression, "No."
"Please, have a seat." Himeko gestured to the seat across from her as she spoke in Japanese.
Laura looked at Hanako, who rolled her eyes, "Sit down." She curtly ordered in English.
Laura hesitantly took a seat beside Hanako, she glanced around the spacious living room. Many plants decorated their home as well as several family photos. Hanako poured them all freshly brewed tea Himeko had prepared for them beforehand.
"Hanako, why is this lady so big?" Haruki giggled while eyeing Laura curiously.
Hanako chortled loudly in response, catching Laura off guard, which caused her to smile warmly.
"Don't be rude towards our guest, Haruki. She is one of Hanako's friends." Himeko calmly spoke as she took a sip from her tea with shaking hands.
Laura looked at Hanako, who groaned, "He wants to know why you are so...big." She grumbled while avoiding eye contact with her.
"It is because I am part dragon." Laura replied casually while taking a sip from her cup.
"Really?" Hanako stared at her in disbelief.
Laura smiled again, "Yes."
"She said she's a dragon and that's why she's so big." Hanako told Haruki and Haruka.
Haruki's eyes grew wide with excitement, "Really?!" He squealed.
Hanako nodded her head, "Yes."
"That's so cool!" He immediately ran to Laura's side and pulled on her arm.
"Show me!" He begged while jumping up and down.
"He wants you to show him." Hanako stated.
"I cannot." Laura forced a smile, even though her expression saddened.
"Why?" Hanako's brows furrowed.
"I have not suffered enough to awaken my dragon. I must purge myself of all emotions, only then will I awaken my dragon." Laura sighed before pushing her chair out to stand.
"Where are you going?" Hanako quickly stood up when she began to walk away.
"It is clear you have no intention of returning to the Academy. I shall lure them to another location and make up some sort of lie." Laura said without looking back.
Hanako looked at her grandma, who only smiled and nodded her head. She quickly chased after Laura, who walked towards the door with her head down.
"Wait!" She yelled.
Laura held the doorknob, "What is it, Hanako?" She asked softly not turning to face her.
"Why would you sacrifice yourself for me? You are aware of what Amaris would do if she learned you were deceiving her about my absence." Hanako said, she felt a mixture of emotions as she spoke.
"We are friends, right?" Laura questioned softly while fumbling with her fingers.
The air became heavy with tension.
"Why?" Hanako clenched her jaw as she lowered her head to hide her expression from Laura.
"Although you smell like Agatha and I am frightened by you, I feel the need to protect you as well as the others. If you want to be corrupted, so be it. If you want to flee from the Abandoned realm, or this planet, then it is your right. You should decide your own fate." Laura told her as she turned to face her with teary eyes.
"Laura?" Hanako slowly approached her with a worried expression.
"You have lost something and it cannot be replaced. We all have lost something that cannot be replaced. Yet, we desperately fight to avenge what we have lost without any acknowledgement, or mercy for those weaker than us. We are worse than Normals." Laura mumbled to herself.
Hanako felt the pit of her stomach drop, "I shall return to the Academy." She declared.
"I will save you from Agatha." Laura lifted her head with a small smile.
