Preservers exist to tend to both the Earth's vast lands and oceans as well as the many species living upon it. They help guide lesser beings known as Keepers as well as uphold several other duties. Originally, a Preserver existed within both of the realms, but time had been forced to change. The first Preserver refused to return his power to the Earth, so it could bless a new Preserver with the same fate. The Earth had no choice, but to seal away the first Preserver and all of his power. After a millennium passed, humans stumbled upon the chamber where the first Preserver had been in a deep slumber. The Earth ordered the first to kill the second Preserver, who had unknowingly obtained the gift of immortality by herself. Thousands of years later, the Earth sensed a presence, a human in tune with its life. It had never felt such a strong connection amongst the humans before. In order to protect its third Preserver, it granted her immortality, and power beyond her mortal imagination. Before the first Preserver could find her, the Earth sent her to the Abandoned realm to protect her. Like a god, a Preserver lives to protect all life. Yet, the third Preserver is slowly becoming corrupted by the Goddess of the Earth, the Mother.
Hanako led her class to their table in the dining hall with her head lowered. She feared if she looked at anyone, she would not hesitate to kill them. They ate as normal, there was laughter and smiles all around, but soon it quickly diminished with the arrival of Amaris and her First. The Imperium class' table sat directly next to the Vita class'. Both Gik and Amaris sat at opposite ends of a large table fit for more than a hundred. Amaris glanced at Hanako, who sat facing her. She stared at her, she knew the Earth's little bird yearned for the taste of blood. Why allow such power to waste away doing the bidding of a dying god?
"Hanako." Amaris loudly spoke as she gently placed her spoon on the table.
Speaking to other classes during meal times had been forbidden by Agatha, she believed interaction between the different classes would upset the balance of her hierarchy. The entire room fell silent, what did she think she would gain by doing this?
"I have decided to help you break free." Amaris declared while narrowing her eyes at Hanako.
Silence.
"Amaris, do not speak to other classes during lunch!" Iria immediately scolded her while approaching her from the other side of the room.
Amaris did not respond, purposely ignoring the Headmistress' dog. Iria scowled at her when she realized why Amaris refused to respond.
"Now you decide to obey the rules?" Iria pinched the bridge of her nose while sighing.
Amaris glanced at Hanako, who lifted her head to look at her. Iria glanced in between them in suspicion of what Amaris meant. Laura hesitantly approached them while tightly gripping her tray. Her nerves were getting the best of her, a thin layer of frost formed on the sides of the tray. Iria turned to her with a scowl, she had forgotten to mask her true emotions. Amaris looked up at Laura with a blank expression. Laura bravely sat across from her with eyes full of fear. Iria turned on her heel to return to her table.
"I have yet to be assigned to a class yet, Amaris." Laura whispered quietly.
Amaris continued to stare at her with a blank expression.
"I am only acquaintanced with those from our team," she shyly admitted, "Alice acted as if I did not exist, Hanako and Iria frighten me. You are my last resort."
Amaris blinked, "Hanako frightens you?" She contained her laughter with a cough.

"Is it her scent that frightens you? The corruption that consumes her?" Amaris smirked as she took a bite of the slop Agatha's staff regularly served them.
Laura hesitantly nodded her head again.
Amaris chuckled, "You are aware of Agatha as well, am I correct?"
"Those who cannot sense her deception are fools." Laura trembled with fear as she spoke, the look in Amaris' eyes slowly turned malevolent.
"I know you fear me most of all because we are opposites. My gift is fire while yours is ice. Yet, you want to be my friend. How endearing." Amaris picked at the black, jelly-like, substance.
"You smell like Iria, both of you are monsters." Laura stated while gripping her knees to calm herself.
"You smell like man." Amaris narrowed her eyes at Laura.
"You can smell my scent?" Laura stared at her with wide eyes.
Amaris scowled, "A man and beast should have never copulated."
Laura scowled back at her, "You know nothing of my kind." She spat coldly.
Amaris chuckled, "I could care less about your kind, I hardly care for the Abandoned." She leaned forward.
"How can you say that when you are an Abandoned yourself?." Laura continued to scowl at her.
"I am not from this world, so I am not Abandoned. Yet, I possess more power than all these fools combined." She stated with a devilish grin.
"Amaris." Gik suddenly spoke up, interrupting their conversation before Laura had the chance to respond.
Amaris looked at him, "Yes?" She sang, feigning innocence as she smiled at him.
"Leave the Outsider alone, or you will upset Agatha." Gik ordered with a menacing scowl while pushing his chair back to stand.
Amaris clicked her tongue in annoyance, "You know where I will be, little bird." She said before vanishing in a column of golden fire.
The scent of corruption became too overwhelming for Laura's heightened sense of smell. She slowly turned to look behind her with a terrified expression. Gik blocked Hanako from her view by standing in her way, he shook his head.
"Amaris has awoken another monster, do not allow her lies to lure you in. She may be strong, but she lacks humanity." Gik stated before picking up Amaris' tray as well and walked away.
Hanako's scent vanished when she disappeared while Gik distracted Laura from seeing her. Laura turned back to her tray with a saddened expression. Amaris had no right to torment others, she thought to herself while slamming both her fists on the table. The table instantly froze, shattering like glass. The Vita class and the Viribus class stared at her with wide eyes as she stormed out of the dining hall.
Hanako appeared at the edge of the stream where Amaris had been patiently waiting for her arrival, her eyes glowed bright with violet rage. Amaris turned away from the stream to face her, she smirked.
"So you have grown tired of obeying the one in sheep's clothing, huh?" Amaris deviously licked her pink lips.
Hanako scowled at her, "Do not take the Headmistress lightly!" She boomed.
Amaris laughed, "Surely you jest." She mocked Hanako.
"You cannot comprehend the power she wields!" Hanako shouted angrily while balling her fists at her sides.
"None of you comprehend the power I wield!" Amaris fired back with a menacing scowl.
"I fear no one!" Hanako screamed before charging at her.
Amaris readied her stance, but Laura pushed both Hanako and her away from each other. They flew across the ground before stopping themselves from flying any further. Laura scowled at Amaris, whose expression once again became deranged.
"Amari." Laura boomed, which made Amaris freeze.
Amaris stared at her for the first time in horror, "How did you—"
"I will not allow you to harm anyone!" Laura shouted, gritting her teeth.
"Stupid animal, you utter the name of my star. Yet, you know nothing of its power; my power." Amaris sneered before charging at her, she jumped in the air to strike her from above.
However, Laura caught her by her leg, throwing her into a nearby tree. Hanako slowly lifted her hand before making a fist. A wall of dirt appeared in between Laura and Amaris. Laura's fist collided with the wall instead of Amaris. The wall of dirt engulfed Laura, completely immobilizing her. She clicked her tongue in annoyance before freezing the dirt around her to break free. Amaris slowly stood up with a deranged expression. The ground beneath Hanako's feet rippled as she morphed through. She disappeared before Amaris noticed she had made her escape from the Abandoned realm entirely.
Amaris suddenly stopped fighting, her face turned stoic. Laura scowled at her, but felt a weight shift in the air as well. They tilted their heads back in unison to look at the sky, it had become as red as blood.
"The little bird has finally escaped." Amaris muttered with her brows furrowed, she frowned at the thought.
Laura blinked, "What do you mean?" She growled.
Bring her back.
Amaris clicked her tongue, "I am not responsible for your creations." She stomped her foot on the ground.
Laura narrowed her eyes in suspicion, "Whom are you speaking to?" She questioned.
Bring her back.
The Earth began to repeat this phrase over and over inside of Amaris' head. She clasped her hands over her ears in a poor attempt to silence its booming voice. However, it pressed on until Amaris finally snapped.
"Fine! You foolish clod, I shall bring back your precious little Preserver!" Amaris shouted at the ground with an annoyed expression.
"Amaris?" Laura grew worried for the strange being's even odder behavior.
"What?!" Amaris snapped at her.
"Whom were you speaking to?" Laura cautiously took a step back, asking her once again.
"The Earth." Amaris spat while folding her arms over her chest.
"The Earth?" Laura's face twisted in confusion.
"Yes, you neanderthal. The Earth. Only a few on this planet have the ability to communicate with it." Amaris rolled her eyes.
"Where are you going?" Laura questioned when Amaris leaped over the stream in the opposite direction of the Academy.
"When the Earth orders you to do something, you do it." Amaris declared with an annoyed expression.
Laura blinked, "Amaris?!" She quickly followed after her.
Amaris looked behind her, "I am bringing back our precious little bird. Do not interfere." She growled.
"You cannot leave the Academy grounds!" Laura shouted frantically.
"Silence!" Amaris boomed angrily.
"Amaris!" Laura pleaded.
Amaris lowered her head, "If you enter the Normal realm," she paused, balling her fists at her sides, "Hanako may kill you. I am the only one capable of bringing her back."
"But—"
"I can do this, you cannot. Tell Iria, Hanako has gone to the Normal realm. Do not allow Agatha to leave the premises." Amaris said before opening a gate to the Normal realm by drawing a massive ring of golden fire in the air.
