The trio, Rai and Echo waited till lunch recess while also preparing for the unknown threats in Silvermoon.
"While they aren't too strong, they may have unique abilities that can catch us off guard," Anas said.
"Like that would pose a threat, we are way too strong for them. No matter how good their abilities are, we can dodge them all," Karasu said and Echo agreed with that.
"Until they have an instant-death ability," Anas said.
"Is that even a thing?" Nex asked.
"Nope, I made that up. But it can show up in a Cruel," Anas commented.
"Isn't that a bad thing? I mean Mr X could have killed you two if the Cruels gave him that ability. What if a student made a deal with them and got something similar?" Rai wondered.
"It's most likely not possible. That would mean the person can bear that power as if his body is too weak to handle such power, his body would probably collapse on itself," Anas explained.
"So, I heard you were looking for me," principal Agnus said as she was suddenly behind all of them and Rai jumped onto Anas' lap from fear.
"My heightened senses couldn't even hear her coming," Echo noted.
"Ha, I can float with my magic, you wouldn't even hear a thing from me," principal Agnus said while pointing to her feet, proving her point.
"We would all like you to sign our application forms," Anas said, getting back on topic.
"Hmm, I will sign them, on one condition," principal Agnus told them.
"And what is the condition?" Nex asked.
"You all will have join ANGEL as a mercenary group after graduation," principal Agnus told them and all of them except Anas looked a bit surprised by that.
"Umm, what is a mercenary group?" Rai asked curiously.
"A mercenary group in ANGEL would take on missions that are from other kingdoms and they are usually dealing with problems for the kingdom, like Clover went to the elven forest even though the journey is 5 days on carriage. After the completion of the mission, the kingdom that put up the mission would give the group money and the group can also keep everything they find during the mission. However, these missions are normally human threats or some sort of mysterious creatures, so their pay are higher," Anas explained in the simplest of terms.
"Why do you need us to do that?" Karasu asked.
"Because it would help you gain experience dealing with people that have different and unique abilities. And you can still do the usual murdering Cruel missions. And I also want you to give 35% of the total value of everything you find during the missions. Do we have a deal?" Principal Agnus asked.
"25% of the total value," Anas said, trying to gain a bit more.
"30%, final offer," principal Agnus said.
Anas ran a few quick calculations in his head, "Acceptable, we have a deal," Anas said.
"Lovely, now give me your forms, I will keep them anyways," principal Agnus as she used her magic to float their forms to her hands.
"Good luck, don't disappoint me, or else you will have to do a sparring match with me," principal Agnus said as she floated away to her office.
"Well, let's all go back to the mansion after school, we have to improve," Anas said.
"You three can do that, I'm going to help the dragon angel since I can tell she needs some improvements and plus I can't learn from the surprisingly strong butler," Echo said.
"And how are you going to teach her?" Karasu asked, doubtful of Echo's teaching abilities.
"I've seen plenty of magical abilities in my time in the arena, and I know that her abilities are similar to the fire guy. You each can have a strong person to teach you while the dragon angel can have me," Echo said and Rai trusted him.
After school was over, they walked back to the Blackwoods mansion and got to training.
Nex chose Amelia to train as his damage-to-magic ratio is still lacking and Amelia has a good ratio.
"So in order to get a better ratio, you have to condense your eye magic to deal more damage. Anas and Karasu's are good because their magic is already needs them to condense their magic to get a good form, but your bones barely need to. So I suggest you first try to form a skull, but put more magic in it," Amelia explained.
"Wouldn't that mean I used more magic for more damage? How would that make a difference?" Nex asked.
"Shooting 100 weak magic blast does less than shooting 1 strong blast. By putting more magic into an attack, its net increase in damage is more than the magic used," Amelia replied.
Anas chose Al since he is the most competent one and has to most experience.
"I already did so much with my magic? What else do I need?" Anas asked Al.
"Well there are a few things. Your attacks are still to slow and weak. Your swordfish has speed, but not damage. And your Megalodon is the opposite. You also shoot somewhat blinding, you don't focus on a few spots, you spread damage out," Al answered.
And Karasu chose Val since Val is the strongest.
"You're too direct. Sure, you're the damage dealer in the group, but a short burst of fire will be behind a constant burn. Your blood magic can do a lot of things, nearly anything under the Moon can be created. Be creative, but don't overwhelm yourself with options," Val explained to Karasu.
In a small corner of the training grounds, Echo was observing Rai's skills.
"If you don't mind me asking, why haven't you used your shootable scales yet?" Echo asked.
"Well, it's actually painful to use them and they take a week to grow back," Rai said to Echo.
"How about you use your heatwaves to represent the scales? You can already wrap your fists with heatwaves, why not do the same for the scales? By coating the scale in heatwaves, you have a scale-shape projectile, but you don't have to shoot your actual scale," Echo suggested.
All of them trained until sunset, Nex kept adding magic, but the bones were now harder to control, Anas made 37 beta versions and all of them failed and Karasu was making progress, but his attacks still needed him to go direct. Only Rai was making significant progress, she not only mastered the heat shot, she was also learning to form a dragon's head.
"Told you I was a good teacher, bird," Echo said to Karasu with a smug.
"We still have until next week to master our skills, just you wait," Karasu said to Echo.
All of them continued with their training for 6 days and it is the day before the event. Their progress is much faster after they got the hang of it.
Nex can condense his magic instantly and control the bones easily. He even made bone arms and claws from his back to have extra limbs, though he hasn't gotten used to it yet.
Anas after a total of 50 failed designs, made sapphire dolphins for a perfect balance of attack and speed. He also learned to aim his attacks on the weak spots of his opponents.
Karasu made blood tentacles similar to what he made during the assessment test with Mr X, and blood shrapnels, similar to the blood orbs, but leaves small sharp chunks of blood, great for large areas and crowd control. He also made blood strings to go with the shrapnels. After the string is broken, it can activate the shrapnel.
Rai on the other hand, made the most amount of progress. She is as strong as a copper rank even though she is a first year. She made heat shots, a dragon's head that shoots a ball of heatwaves and small dragonflies that set anything they touch on fire.
"Thank you, Echo. I really learnt a lot from you," Rai said to Echo.
"It's nothing, could have done more, but that's all that I can do with my 5 years of experience fighting mages," Echo commented.
"And you didn't improve a single bit, are you sure you're going to beat us?" Nex asked.
"I am still going to beat all of your asses. I am already near my limits so what more can I possibly do? I already know how to perfectly use my chains," Echo replied.
"Get better chains, duh. Here, take a look at this pair of chains," Anas said to Echo.
The chain were dark, jagged, its serrated edges caught the light of the sunset. Echo gave them a test swing and the sound of each link hitting one another screeched.
"What the hell is that sound?" Nex said as he covered his ears.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" Echo commented with a grin.
He swung again. The chains whistled and shrieked.
"Screaming Chains," Anas said. "Custom made. They'll hear you coming from a mile away."
"Good," Echo said, attaching them to his wrists. "I want them to,"
Behind them, the 3 adults looked at the group.
"They are improving a lot. When do you think they will reach diamond rank?" Amelia asked Val and Al.
"By my calculations, maybe when they're 22, and that is the higher estimation," Al said.
"They are growing, but they might just die on the battlefield. If master Anas dies, all hopes of a strong heir are on innocent Bella. And I don't think she can handle the pain of losing people she cares on the front lines," Val said, worried.
"We can only hope that Anas is strong enough to survive on the battlefield for his sister," Amelia commented.
"He is only 17 and already has such important responsibilities. Maybe one day, he can be the Marshal of the eye," Al said.
Each marshal is given a role. Grand marshal helps with every branch and oversee the entire foundation. Marshal of the eye is the planner, sends out scouts to look for Cruel camps, researches artifacts, and oversees if there are any corruption in every kingdom from spies.
Marshal of the attack deals with making every strike squad and promotes stronger mages into different position ranks using reports from the eye marshal. Marshal of the soul deals with healing and absorption magic, curses and genetically modifications. Marshal of the blacksmith runs all blacksmiths to make new modern artifacts, magic tools and forging new materials.
"Maybe, let's hope he is still alive by then," Val said.58Please respect copyright.PENANAbPNZG0TKPb
