After their pitstop to the Blackwood mansion, the trio and Echo headed off to Celestial Star Academy to help Echo get enrolled. They hoped that principal Agnus would agree on the spot, but their hopes were immediately crushed.
"You three want an ex-member of an underground arena to join this school? And he is also magicless! What could he possibly do even with the Ancient Fever?" Principal Agnus shouted at them with fury and the trio were sweating from just the pressure alone, no magical aura needed.
"I know he is near your level, but in a fight with long ranged fighters, how would he fight them?" Principal Agnus question.
"I can just dodge, simple as that. You do realize that the area was only 25 meters wide right? In an open field or forest, it won't be too hard to dodge," Echo exclaimed.
"Fine, Mr L, please test this kid's abilities. I want to see for myself how impressive he is," principal Agnus said as Mr L got ready.
"This is the first time we will see his eye magic, I wonder what it will be," Anas mumbled to himself.
They went to the assessment room and all of them were curious about the battle between Echo and Mr L.
Echo really didn't care about what his abilities were, he thought he wasn't a threat even though he knew Mr L was stronger than him. He didn't talk to him unlike what he did during his fights with the trio.
The fight began and Echo didn't waste a single second, he charged in, flailing his chains around. Mr L's eyes glowed white as he created a small hurricane.
Echo easily deflected it by whipping his chains to create sonic booms. He was moving quickly, faster than the eye can see. He tried to hit him with his chains, by he was as fast as the winds. Mr L made wind phoenixs to distract Echo, but he broke them with each swing.
Mr L finally had enough of him and created a tornado that engulf the room. Echo was pushed back, but still standing. Suddenly, a high speed air drill went through him and he was knocked back into the wall.
"Alright, I have seen enough. He passed," principal Agnus said and the trio was relieved.
"However, I can tell he is at his full strength. He won't be getting stronger since the Ancient Fever is almost fully developed and he will at most be gold ranked. And his speed is way worse than lightning, something that is rare for people with the Ancient Fever, but still something they can accomplish," principal Agnus told them coldly.
"Unless he breaks the fever. The Ancient Fever is just blocking the magic to flow to his eyes. If we can break the blockage, he can develop into a high ranked mage," Anas explained.
"Do you know just how hard that is? The only person who did that took 23 years of experiments to final use magic and he sucked at it! If you think he can do it, then good luck trying to break it faster," principal Agnus said.
"Unless we can replicate the experiment. We know how it works, we just need to try," Anas said with determination.
"Alright, so this won't be easy, but it's not impossible. The process takes around 4 days just for his magic to go to his neck and another 5 days for the eyes and then 3 months in total for you to use magic from your arms," Anas told Echo.
"Why does it take so long? I know the seals are strong, but over 3 months to use magic? That's not worth it. I can beat all of your asses without it. Even if my "ceiling" is at gold rank, my top speed at mach 3.8 can allow me to crush emerald ranked mages, probably," Echo said.
"Well your speed is impressive, we can react to lightning and although it's not real lightning, it's close to mach 300. The only reason why we almost lost was because of your insane strength. And if people can predict you, it's over for you," Anas replied.
"Ugh fine, but if you fail, then that's the end of me getting magic," Echo said and Anas agreed as he thought he can cure the Ancient Fever.
"Alright, so first, you'll have to eat Cruels," before Anas can say anything else.
"Hell NO! Forget about THIS! Just let me be magicless. I don't care if there's a way to clear the damn smell and I don't even want to know the flavor. I have eaten rats before and I bet it will still taste better. And plus, gold rank isn't that bad. I can become a squad leader in ANGEL or maybe even a company captain if I can prove that I am as good as an emerald ranked mage," Echo said.
In ANGEL, there are ranks besides the mage rank, these are the position ranks. Position ranks are only held by gold ranks or above as silver is too weak according to past incidents. Squad leader is the lowest rank while Marshal is the highest and is only held by the prismatics.
"You have the potential to become something greater than that, like division head. Come on, just try," Nex chimed in.
"Hey, we ate those for like a week or two, it's not as bad as you think," Karasu continued.
"Even if I succeed at this, magic takes a lot of time to learn and master. You guys learnt it from 3 years old and honed your skills since then. Learning the basics would take me a year or two," Echo objected.
"Don't worry, you have us and adults who can teach you," Nex told Echo.
"HA! Like I would have faith in adults. And you three? You are weaker than me, you are nothing compared to me. You are ants to me. Even with magic, it took you three so long just to lose to me. And I only learnt how to use my chains right before my first time going into the underground tournament," Echo said.
Just then, Rai and Anas' sister, Bella walked by. Rai really wanted to meet the new friend the trio talked about.
"Well, hi there. I am Rai, nice to meet you," Rai said quietly, still nervous since she heard that the new guy was strong.
"Hello there, nice to meet you too. I am Echo. I am from the Eclipse Kingdom and I am 17 just like the other three guys," Echo said calmly with a smile.
"Okay, woah, why the sudden mood change? You were almost ready to kill us like 10 seconds ago," Karasu said while scratching his head.
"Hey bird, don't say stuff like that in front of a little girl. She doesn't need to know that part of the world," Echo said to Karasu while sending him a death glare.
"What is that on your hands?" Bella asked Echo.
"These are magical tools to help beat up bad guys. They are very useful," Echo calmly explained.
"Can Bella try?" Asked Bella, but Echo refused.
"Why can't Bella play with magic tool?" Bella said while pouting.
"It's too dangerous for you, maybe when you're older, then you can try," Echo said to cheer Bella up.
"Hey! You still haven't answered my question," Karasu said, sending his own death glare.
"Because these people are kinder than losers like you. They are precious little angels from the moon while you three are the cruelest of Cruels. People like them will only do good and won't even hurt a fly," Echo explained.
"Thanks for that complement, but I did kill a few Cruels during my first mission. And also, I punch that dummy on the head when he says something too kind," Rai said and also pointed at Anas.
"Oh, those are understandable reasonings. Maybe you should punch him with your gauntlets you got there," Echo suggested which Rai shook her head to.
"But I am curious about your strength. Can you like hit me real quick? I want to see how strong a gold ranked mage is," Rai asked.
"Uh, sorry, can't do that. Don't want to hurt you and I never will. Can't I just beat the crap out of the three to show you?" Echo asked.
"Come on, one small hit," Rai plead with a cat-like face.
"No, you aren't going to trick me with that tactic. Just give up on that. I'm not gonna hurt you. I am not even gonna lay a single finger on you," Echo responded.
"Booo, party pooper!!" Rai said with a smug.
"I don't care at this point. So what if I am a party pooper?" Echo said.
"But why wouldn't you hit a woman?" Rai asked.
"Long story short, my sister and mother sacrificed everything for me while my dad left us to rot. And after they were killed, a nice old lady took me in. She was kind and warm, but she didn't have a lot of time left. Women were the people who have helped me and I'm afraid if I hurt one, then no one would safe me. The announcer tried to be a good person, but after seeing my strength, he just didn't care about my health," Echo replied.
"I'm sorry for asking you that question, I didn't mean to—" before Rai could finish.
"It's fine... It's better than what other people did to me," Echo said as a tear dropped.
Echo then walked off, saying it was getting late.64Please respect copyright.PENANA4SQjR1adH4
