Adrien hurriedly descended the stairs, his bags in tow, when he overheard a conversation between his father and an unknown person. Curiosity piqued, he discreetly peered into the room to see his father, Gabriel, engrossed in a phone call.
Gabriel is talking on the phone while looking at a book. "Yes, I'm busy. I was right in the middle of something very important. What do you want?" He pauses, then frowns. "What?! This is unacceptable! The sample garment doesn't match at all! All you had to do was follow a pattern. Imbeciles! What am I supposed to do?" He closes the book and picks it up. "The show is in three days! No, don't use him, he's completely useless."
Gabriel goes to the painting of his wife, revealing a safe behind it, into which he places the book before he closes the portrait.
"Call my assistant, Nathalie. She'll give you some other names." Gabriel ordered.
With that, he exited the room, unaware of Adrien's presence as he discreetly hid behind a nearby pillar. Once his father was out of sight, Adrien cautiously peeked out, his mind racing with curiosity.
"He hides things behind the painting of Mom?" Adrien wondered aloud.
"Ooh! I love dirty secrets!" Plagg exclaimed, as his holder walks into the room and opens the painting. "Oh, yes! Go on, go on!"
Tempted by the mystery, Adrien reached out to the safe but hesitated. "I can't do it. My dad wouldn't approve of me snooping around his belongings. Besides, I don't even know the code, and I have my fencing class soon."
"You're such a party pooper!" Plagg whined. Ignoring Adrien's warning, he phased through the safe door, effortlessly unlocking it from the inside.
"Plagg, no!" Adrien protested, fearing the consequences of their actions. Ignoring his pleas, Plagg began searching through the safe's contents, disappointed by the mundane items he discovered.
"A book on Tibet, an old hotel flyer, just a bunch of junk. Where's the good stuff?" Plagg complained, knocking the book Gabriel had been clutching into Adrien's hands, "I've seen this book somewhere before. But who cares? I'm starving! I need some Camembert!"
Adrien browsed through the pages, his eyes widening as he encountered ancient Chinese superheroes reminiscent of Cat Noir along with a mysterious fox person.
"Why would my dad keep this locked away?" Adrien pondered aloud. As he turned another page, he gasped in astonishment at the image of an ancient Chinese hero bearing a striking resemblance to... Hawk Moth? "Hawk Moth? What is this monster doing in a book about superheroes?" He wondered, his curiosity deepening.
"Cheese! Didn't you hear me?" Plagg exclaimed.
But just then, Adrien gasps upon hearing footsteps approaching and was about to put the book back but hesitated. He quickly hides the book inside his school bag and closes the picture just as Nathalie and Adrien's bodyguard, Placide, enter the room.
"Adrien? You're going to be late.", Nathalie said, as the bodyguard grunts.
"I was...looking for my homework. Silly me." Adrien chuckles nervously.
Françoise Dupont High School - Locker Room
"So this is school?" Kaalki asked, poking her head out from Lily's purse.
"Yeah. Lily works really hard on her education here." Tikki replied.
"She also meets up with her friends and classmates." Trixx added.
Lily smiled softly as the three Kwamis. She was glad that Master Fu let her have Kaalki with her for her plan to retrieve the Peacock Miraculous. There were still a few things she needed in order for the plan to start. Fu had managed to find a feather from the Peacock Miraculous and was still in good condition. It was also surprising that he had some gold and a meteorite as well. She also managed to give Juleka, Rose and Master Fu a magical charm. Master Fu was confused at first, but Lily gave him one just in case.
At the moment, Lily was at her locker, putting most of her stuff away. She was getting ready for Miss Bustier's class.
"Hey Lily."
Lily turned to the voice and saw Adrien next to her.
"Adrien, good morning." Lily greeted.
"Morning." Adrien greeted.
Lily noticed that Adrien was somewhat distracted.
"Adrien, is something wrong?" Lily questioned.
"Well, I need some advice." Adrien pleaded.
"What for?" Lily asked.
"I know that Marinette's been stalking me." Adrien admitted.
Lily's eyes widened, "Really?"
Adrien nodded, "Yeah. I want to talk to her about that." He stated.
"Adrien, you remember Vincent Aza, right? He's worse than Marinette. There's a possibility that she might not even listen to you." Lily reasoned.
"I know. But I have to at least try." Adrien decided.
"Do you think Marinette will understand how you feel?" Lily questioned.
Unbeknownst to Adrien and Lily, Marinette had just walked into the locker when she heard that question. She quickly hid behind one of the lockers.
"I hope so. Marinette needs to know what her actions are doing to me." Adrien answered.
"We can only hope that she'll understand." Lily prayed.
Marinette smiled crazily at those words. 'Adrien has feelings for me!' She thought.
"I'll meet with her alone today. Hopefully, nothing will go wrong." Adrien prayed.
"Let's hope so. Now, let's get to class." Lily decided.
Marinette quickly moved out of sight as Adrien and Lily headed to class. The bluenette poked her head out and leaned against the locker, letting out a blissful sigh.
"Adrien's in love with me." Marinette whispered.
"What was that, Marinette?"
Marinette yelped and turned to see Alya standing there.
"Oh Alya, it's you. Thank goodness." Marinette lets out a sigh of relief.
"That's reassuring. So what were you whispering to yourself about?" Alya asked.
"Oh! I'm going to confess to Adrien, Alya!" Marinette beamed.
"Really?!" Alya blinked in surprise.
Marinette nodded happily and went over to her locker and took out a heart shaped pendant, "Yup, I made him this heart shaped pendant."
"It looks...nice." Alya complimented.
"I know. I want the color to match his eyes!" Marinette beamed at the necklace, "I hope he likes it."
"I'm sure he will." Alya assured her.
Marinette smiled softly at the pendant.
"Well, let's get to class now." Alya decided.
"Right!" Marinette agreed.
Miss Bustier's Classroom
Throughout the lesson, Marinette stared longingly at Adrien, not paying any attention to the lesson. She had a hard time believing that the Adrien Agreste had feelings for her! She couldn't wait to tell her feelings to him. Deep down, she believed that Adrien was the only one for her and Lily couldn't compete with her.
Unknown to Marinette, Adrien had no romantic feelings towards the bluenette Yandere. In fact, he was weirded out by her. Her obsession with him had made feel uncomfortable and... unsafe. He had seen how crazy Vincent was towards Jagged Stone. He wouldn't want that kind of fan around him. When he was Cat Noir, he was very freaked out when he saw the many pictures of him in Marinette's room. He wondered how Marinette was able to take pictures of him without him noticing.
During class, Lily noticed Marinette's focus constantly drifted to Adrien. She also noticed the large, weird smiles that was plastered on the bluenette's face when she stared at the blonde-haired boy.
'I have a feeling that Marinette might get Akumatized after this.' Lily thought with worry.
Classroom was soon over, and everyone was getting ready to take a break. Adrien was somewhat nervous to talk to Marinette. After all, the girl had been stalking him for the past year. Those smiles of hers always creeped him out. He let out a sigh and stood up with his bag. With some courage, he walked over to Marinette.
"Marinette." Adrien said.
"Adrien! H-How's it going?" Marinette stuttered with a creepy wide smile.
"Fine. Listen, I need to talk to you." Adrien said.
"Wh-What about?" Marinette asked, nervously.
"Can we talk in private afterschool? The park near the school, okay?" Adrien offered.
Marinette nodded rapidly, "Of-Of course! I'll be there." She promised.
"Okay, good." Adrien said before he walked out of the classroom.
Marinette squealed and hugged Alya, "Can you believe it, Alya?! Adrien is going to confess to me!"
Alya gave a small smile and hugged her friend, "That's great, Marinette."
"I can't wait to confess to him!" Marinette beamed happily.
School Library
Adrien was sitting at a table, ready to do his homework. Then he remembered the book that he found in his father's safe and takes it out of his bag and began to look at the pictures.
"Hey Adrien."
Adrien quickly turned to the side and saw Lily with her hand up.
"How's it going?" Lily greeted.
"F-Fine." Adrien stuttered.
Lily then noticed the Grimoire on the table, "What kind of book is that?"
"I, um, found it," Adrien lowers his voice. "In my father's safe behind a painting of my mother."
"This is from your father's safe?" Lily whispered as she sat down in a chair next to him.
"Yeah, it seems to be a book about superheroes." Adrien whispered back.
"Can I have a look?" Lily asked.
"Uh, sure." Adrien slides the book to Lily.
"Wow." Lily flips through the pages of the Grimoire until she lands on the page on Lady Scarlet, "Lady Scarlet."
"She's amazing." Adrien replied fondly as he rests his face in his palm.
Lily smiles at Adrien, knowing that he had a crush on her alter ego.
"Adrien, can I take some pictures of this book? These designs look so amazing." Lily requested.
"Sure. I'll just do my homework while you take pictures." Adrien suggested.
"Thanks, Adrien." Lily thanked him as she took out her phone and began taking pictures of the pages of the Grimoire.
Soon enough, Lily got all the pages of the Grimoire. She was glad that Adrien was able to bring this book out. She hoped that his dad won't be mad at him for taking it out of the safe. She glanced over at Adrien who had just finished his homework.
"Thanks for letting me take some pictures, Adrien." Lily closed the Grimoire and handed to Adrien.
"No problem." Adrien put the Grimoire back in his bag.
Suddenly, Adrien got an alert on his phone just then. "I gotta go. I've got a lesson in 58 seconds!"
He began to hurriedly grab his books and puts his bag on his shoulder. Then he began to run out but stop for a moment.
"See you later, Lily!" Adrien gave her a small wave of his hand before he headed to his next class.
Lily waved back before he left. Then she sent the photos to Master Fu.
The Place des Vosges
It was soon the end of the school day. Adrien had arrived at the park, waiting for Marinette to arrive. But Marinette was already there, behind a tree nearby.
"It's okay, Marinette. You can do this! You can do this!" Marinette muttered.
Then she got out behind the tree and tried to calmly walk towards Adrien.
"Hey Adrien!" Marinette greeted with a smile that she thought was cute.
"Hey, Marinette." Adrien greeted, cringing at her demented smile.
"So what did you want to talk about?" Marinette asked.
Adrien took a deep breath and let it out, "Marinette, I know that you've been stalking me for this past year." He stated, bluntly.
"What?! No-No, I haven't!" Marinette denied.
"Marinette, you tried to break into my locker to delete an embarrassing voicemail, you're being mean to my friends and our classmates, and you even tried to hurt Lily." Adrien listed off.
"Um." Marinette looked away as she fiddled with her fingers, "It's-It's just that...I'm...I'm in love with you, Adrien!"
Adrien was surprised by her confession for a second. Then he let out a sigh, "Marinette, I have feelings for someone else."
"What?! Who?!" Marinette exclaimed.
"I won't tell you." Adrien stated.
"But I love you, Adrien! I know everything about you! Whoever she is probably doesn't know anything!" Marinette shouted, tears in the corner of her eyes.
"She does know everything about me. You didn't know that I was allergic to feathers until the derby hat contest." Adrien retorted.
"Well..." Marinette trailed off.
"That wasn't okay, Marinette. You've been watching me. Following me. That's not love—it's... wrong." Adrien proclaimed.
Her breath caught in her throat. The walls felt like they were closing in. She wanted to defend herself, to explain that it wasn't what he thought—but deep down, she wasn't sure she believed it either.
"I'm not a bad person," Marinette declared, "I'm not—I just—" Her voice cracked. The words wouldn't come. Not the right ones.
"You can't force someone to like you, Marinette. I don't like how you've been invading my privacy and stalking me," Adrien shook his head, taking a step back. "This isn't love, Marinette. It's not healthy. It's not right."
"But Adrien..." Marinette began to say.
"So please, leave me alone, Marinette." Adrien requested and walked off.
Marinette could only watch her obsession walk away with a heavy, heavy heart. She almost couldn't believe that Adrien didn't like her...at all. So she sat down on the bench and took out the pendant that she wanted to give to Adrien. But now it was useless.
"I gave you everything," Marinette whispered to no one, "But you didn't want anything from me."
Hawk Moth's Lair
The window opens, revealing Hawk Moth as butterflies fluttered around.
"Poor Marinette...So much love, so much devotion... and what did you get in return? Rejection. Humiliation. Betrayal — by the very boy you gave your heart to. Just perfect for my little Akuma," Hawk Moth held his hand up for the butterfly to land then cover it with his other hand, as the dark energy consumes turning the butterfly into an Akuma. He opens his hand, and the butterfly flew off it. "Fly away, my little Akuma...and evilize her!"
The Akuma flew through the window and into the city, heading towards its next victim.
The Place des Vosges
Marinette started sob as she held the pendant in her hands. She had foolishly thought that Adrien was going to confess to her. But she was wrong, he had no romantic feelings towards her. At that moment, the Akuma flew towards her and absorbed itself into the pendant. She looked up with a scowl, a pink butterfly outlining her face.
"Heartstalker, I am Hawk Moth. You've been rejected by the very boy you love. But you don't have to suffer alone anymore. Let me give you the power to show him your pain. Let them all see what it means to be dismissed, to be overlooked, to be broken. All I ask in return... is Lady Scarlet and Cat Noir's Miraculouses."
"Of course, Hawk Moth," Marinette smirks as she stands up. "I'll show him all the pain he's caused me!"
Dark purple goop engulfs her as she cackles.
Agreste Mansion - Adrien's Room
Adrien let out a sigh of relief as he sat down in his chair. Luckily, his dad wasn't in his office when he went to return the book back to the safe. Hopefully, he won't find out about it.
"That was sure lucky." Plagg commented.
"No kidding. I don't know what would have happened if I was caught." Adrien retorted.
Then he heard a knock on his door, Plagg quickly hid behind Adrien's jacket.
"Come in!" Adrien called out.
The door opened to reveal Natalie.
"Adrien, there's something I wish to discuss with you." Natalie said as she walked over to him.
"Wh-What is it?" Adrien stuttered.
Natalie stood in front of him and held up her tablet that showed the CCTV images of Adrien stealing the Grimoire from Gabriel's safe. Then another image of him putting it back. Adrien paled when he saw the footage.
"Why did you steal that book from your father, Adrien?" Natalie questioned.
"I-I was...I was just curious. When I heard you and Placide coming in, I panicked and put the book in my bag instead. I know I should have put it back in the safe. But curiosity got the best of me," Adrien explained and looked at Natalie with a pleading expression, "Please don't tell my father. Who knows what he might do."
Natalie had a thoughtful expression on her face. She knew that Adrien would get into serious trouble if his father found out. To her point of view, she cared about Adrien very deeply and she hated to see how sad he would get sometimes when it came to his father not paying any attention to him or reprimanding most of the time. Perhaps, just this once... she'll let this matter go.
"That book belonged to your mother, Adrien." Natalie revealed.
Adrien looked up at Natalie with shock, "Really?"
Natalie nodded, "Yes, your mother found it overseas. This one-of-a-kind book can't be found anywhere else." She explained.
"I see. Sorry for taking, Natalie. I had no idea it meant so much to him." Adrien apologized.
"Promise me that you won't snoop around his office again." Natalie requested.
"I won't." Adrien promised.
Natalie gave a small smile at his promise, "Good. Now, you better get started on your homework. Make sure to get it done before dinner." She ordered.
"Okay Natalie." Adrien smiled.
Natalie nodded and soon left Adrien's room. The said boy let out another sigh of relief.
"That was definitely a close one." Plagg commented.
"Yeah. This time." Adrien stated.
Rossi Residence - Lily's room
Lily was in her room working on a project, making a copy of the Peacock Miraculous. Now that she had a picture of the Miraculous, it made things easier for her. Master Fu was happy to have the pages of the Grimoire. With Araari and Copper's help, they were able to make it look identical to the real Peacock Miraculous.
At the moment, she was almost halfway through when she heard the news on her laptop.
"Don't be bemused, it's just the news. An Akumatized victim named Heartstalker has appeared and she's causing quite the drama. Somehow she's making innocent couples act out some twisted love fantasy." Nadja announced.
Lily and her Kwamis watched at Heartstalker shoot glowing heart-shaped chains wrap around a couple. They were saying some sort of monologue like they were replaying an event which made the male partner admit that he's in love with his female partner. When Lily saw a closer look at Heartstalker, she realized who the Akumatized victim is.
"Marinette." Lily gasped with wide eyes.
"Marinette? As in Marinette Dupain-Cheng, Adrien's stalker?" Hoowll questioned.
"No doubt about it." Trixx confirmed.
"We got to stop her. Giish, Chass, I'll summon you when I meet up with Cat Noir." Lily decided.
"Right!" Giish and Chass nodded.
"Okay, Tikki, Spots On!" Lily called out.
Tikki was sucked into the earrings and Lily transformed into Lady Scarlet.
Agreste Mansion - Adrien's Room
Adrien and Plagg were also watching the news. Adrien was shocked at seeing Marinette as an Akumatized villain and making couples act her twisted fantasy of their talk from earlier. They kept repeating that the male partner accepted the female's love confession. But Adrien knew that he didn't accept her confession.
"Geez, that girl, Marinette, took the rejection pretty hard." Plagg commented.
"No kidding. Well, we got to stop her. Plagg, Claws Out!"
Plagg was sucked into the ring and Adrien transformed into Cat Noir.
Trocadéro
Heartstalker walked around Trocadéro, looking for couples. However, everyone seemed to be trying to remain out of sight. Heartstalker seemed to be getting agitated that everyone was hiding from her.
On a rooftop, Lady Scarlet and Cat Noir were nearby, watching.
"How do we stop her, M'lady?" Cat Noir asked.
"Don't worry, Kitty. I have a plan." Lady Scarlet opened her yo-yo and took out two Miraculous from it, the Squid and Panther Miraculous.
"Are those...Miraculouses?" Cat Noir asked, shocked.
Lady Scarlet nodded, "I'll explain everything at a later time. But we have to focus on Heartstalker, okay?"
Cat Noir nodded, "Okay."
Lady Scarlet nodded and handed Cat Noir the Panther Miraculous. They both put on the Miraculous and two glowing orbs appeared in front of them. The glow faded to reveal Giish the Squid Kwami and Chass the Panther Kwami.
"Ready to go, Giish?" Lady Scarlet asked.
Giish nodded, "Ready."
"Who are you?" Cat Noir questioned, pointing at Chass.
"Chass, Kwami of the Panther Miraculous." Chass introduced himself.
"Pleasure to meet you, Chass," Cat Noir greeted back and turned to Lady Scarlet, "So why do we need them?"
"We can use Unification which is an invocation that allows a Miraculous owner to activate two or more Miraculouses at once." Lady Scarlet explained.
"That's pretty cool." Cat Noir commented, awed.
"Alright, watch me." Lady Scarlet held out her right hand and then her left, "Tikki, Giish, Unify!" She clasped her hands together as her outfit began to change. The black upper part and thigh part of her costume changed into a salmon pink color, "Lady Cephalon!"
Cat Noir held out his right hand and then his left, "Plagg, Chass, Unify!" He clasped his hands together as his costume began to change. His belt and gloves turned into a dark purple color and there was an outline of dark purple on his ears. His eyes turned into a gold color and his bell was replaced with the symbol of the Panther, "Kuro Noir!"
"Alright, with your new power, you'll be able to use the shadows to sneak around. For me, I'll be able to control her like a puppet." Lady Cephalon explained.
"Sweet." Kuro Noir beamed at his new power.
"Okay, here's the plan." Lady Cephalon began.
Heartstalker was walking by a nearby alley. Lady Cephalon and Kuro Noir spotted her easily. Kuro Noir held Lady Cephalon's hand and turned back to Heartstalker.
"Shadow Claw." Kuro Noir whispered.
The two heroes were absorbed into the shadows and appeared behind Heartstalker.
"Control!" Lady Cephalon whispered as she took out her two squid themed manipulation bars and pink strings stretched out and latched onto Heartstalker who stopped in her steps.
"What?! What's happening?!" Heartstalker exclaimed in panic.
Kuro Noir quickly went in front of Heartstalker and searched for her Akumatized item. Then he spotted the necklace. Quickly, he yanked it off her necklace.
"NO!" Heartstalker shouted.
"Cataclysm!" Kuro Noir used his power to destroy the pendant, releasing the Akuma.
"Oh no you don't!" you filthy Akuma!" Lady Cephalon opens her yo-yo and catches the Akuma with her yo-yo. "Gotcha!" She releases the purified Akuma. "So long, butterfly."
"Lucky Charm!" Lady Cephalon summoned her Lucky Charm which revealed to be a String of heart-shaped beads with a ladybug theme to them, "Heart shaped beads?"
"I don't have anything to comment on those." Kuro Noir shrugged.
Lady Cephalon shrugged as well and threw the object in the air, "Miraculous Scarlet!"
The Miraculous ladybugs restore everything back to normal and revert Heartstalker back into Marinette.
"Huh? What am I doing here?" Marinette questioned.
"Pound it!" The heroes fist-bumped.
Lady Cephalon opened her yo-yo again and took out a magical charm. The charm was painted in a Tyrian purple with five China pink spots and a broken heart in the middle. She handed it to Marinette who just stared at it with mixed feelings in her hand.
"I'm sorry things didn't work out, young lady." Lady Cephalon apologized to her.
"I thought Adrien was the one. But I was wrong." Marinette frowned.
"There are plenty of guys out there. Don't give up." Lady Cephalon assured her.
Marinette gave a small smile towards the Ladybug/Squid Miraculous holder.
Suddenly, Lady Cephalon and Kuro Noir's Miraculouses began beeping.
"Gotta go!" They both said before they took off.
Hawk Moth's Lair
"I thought I had them for sure!" Hawk Moth growled. But then he grinned, "So there are more Miraculous out there. I'll find them and become more powerful than our two heroes," He chuckled, "Lady Scarlet, Cat Noir, I will obtain your Miraculouses, one way or another."
The window closes, bringing the room into darkness.

Françoise Dupont High School - Next Day
Lily was at her locker once again, getting ready for class. After the fight, Cat Noir and her landed on the same roof with chimney that separated them. Luckily, he returned Chass back to her after he refueled his Kwami. She'd hoped that Marinette will start to leave Adrien alone now. But Marinette is sometimes unpredictable, so she can only hope.
"Hey Lily."
Lily turned to the voice and saw Adrien, "Hey Adrien, how's it going?"
"Fine. Considering just what happened yesterday." Adrien replied.
Lily gave him a soft smile, "I think Marinette getting Akumatized was bound to happen. She had a strong obsession with you. So getting rejected made her an easy target for Hawk Moth." She explained.
Adrien let out a sigh, "I still feel a little bit guilty though." He admitted.
"You had to tell Adrien or else she would done something even more dramatic or dangerous." Lily stated.
"I guess so." Adrien agreed, shrugged.
"Come on, let's get to class." Lily suggested.
"Good idea." Adrien agreed.
The two then headed to their first class.
Miss Bustier's Classroom
Lily and Adrien soon arrived in the classroom. The first thing they noticed was Marinette at her desk, her head resting on her folding arms with a downed expression on her face. Alya had her hand on her shoulder, trying to comfort her. Adrien and Lily glanced at each other and went to their seats. Soon enough, Miss Bustier came in and started the lesson.
However, Marinette wasn't paying attention to the lesson or Adrien. She kept thinking about how she got Akumatized. Hearing that Adrien didn't like her still stung in her heart. She knew that she had to get over him. but she knew it was close to impossible.
'How am I going to get over him?' Marinette thought with a quiet sigh.
Rossi Residence - Lily's Room - Later
Lily, Copper and Araari finished the fake Peacock Miraculous. They had to make sure that it would make Gabriel think it's the real one. Now that they were done, they decided to take a break for a moment. Lily brought up some snacks for all the Kwamis. She was having some tea and cookies as she glanced at the complete fake Peacock Miraculous.
"Will this plan work, Lily?" Doongoo asked, eating a biscuit.
"We can only hope, Doongoo." Lily replied before taking a sip of tea.
"I have a good feeling that it will." Amber declared, eating a cinnamon cookie.
"Me too." Vitto agreed, eating an orange slice.
"Then it will." Lily smiled.
A lot of craziness had happened. Adrien rejecting Marinette's feelings and Marinette getting Akumatized. Luckily, she and Cat Noir were able to use Unification with Giish and Chass and finally getting pictures of the Grimoire.
