A/N 1: Got my inspiration from La Fleur by ChanelPradaGirl. They wrote a chapter about a new self-defense teacher joining the school. It might look similar, but I'll try and make sure it's not.
A/N 2: I'm also changing the Kwami that Lily needs to rescue the Peacock Miraculous. So you can re-read that chapter if you want.
A/N 3: Outfit for the chapter.

Françoise Dupont High School Courtyard
All of the students were gathered in the courtyard. They're all facing ahead where Mr. Damocles is standing with a man.
Marinette can't help but wonder what is going on, and she notices Chloé, Lily and Sabrina standing nearby talking to other. Adrien and Nino are near the iconic queens, also exchanging words with each other. She rolled her eyes; she couldn't understand why Nino would want to hang out with them. She understood that Adrien was friends with the three girls.
"Good morning, please remain quiet. I would now like to introduce a new special addition to the school faculty." Mr. Damocles announces to the students.
{A/N: Imagine him in modern clothes.}
The unknown man smiles and steps forward. He clears his throat. "Hello, my name is Haoran Liu, and I am the new self-defense teacher of Françoise Dupont High School. Pleasure to meet you all." He gave a small bow and stood up.
Everyone immediately goes silent.
They were shocked. Some of the students glanced at one another in disbelief. They've never had a self-defense teacher before. Now, they were excited to learn from Haoran.
"Now I know you're all wondering why I have hired a self-defense teacher," Mr. Damocles began, "Since the beginning of the supervillain Hawk Moth, I have noticed that some of students at this school have been Akumatized victims of that terrorist, and some students get hurt or put in danger when being faced with an Akuma from this school. Besides Akumas, it has come to my attention that physical bullying happens," He explains. "And I don't appreciate that one bit."
Many of the students nodded in agreement.
"Haoran, here, will teach you all the basics of self-defense. You will use them in dangerous situations and to get yourself to safety." Mr. Damocles pats Haoran's shoulder.
Everyone clapped. Although, Marinette looked upset over the new teacher being added at the school.
Mr. Damocles smiles. "A student, Lily Rossi," He gestures to Lily.
Everyone looked at her while she blushes at the attention.
"Was concerned for everyone's safety. She brought the idea of a self-defense teacher to me, and I thank her. Please, give her a round of applause," Mr. Damocles instructs, "Haoran's self defense classes will be held after Ms. Mendeleiev's class in the courtyard every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Today is Monday, so be prepared!"
The students all cheer and applaud. Many of them are excited for the self-defense classes, and Lily looks extra proud with herself. The school bell rings just then.
"Alright, get to class, everyone!"
Miss Bustier's Classroom
As the students all enter their homeroom, Alya notices that Marinette is giving a very sour look and glaring at Lily as if she wanted her dead.
"Hey, Marinette, what's with the scowl?" Alya asked, sitting with the blue-haired stalker at their desk.
"Oh, nothing." Marinette replied in a sassy tone, clearly lying.
Alya immediately saw through it. "You're not fooling me with the little lies, Marinette. I saw the look on your face as the new teacher was being announced. What's going on?"
"I just hate how everyone won't stop thanking Lily for getting us a self-defense teacher. I swear that she's only doing these things to get Adrien's-I mean everyone's attention." Marinette grunted.
"Marinette, self-defense in schools have been needed for years now. Look at all of the people who have been Akumatized. Some of them are our classmates." Alya countered, "As for getting attention, I don't think that Lily helped us get a self-defense teacher for it."
"Thanks for having Mr. Damocles hire a self-defense teacher for us, Lily. That's so caring of you." Rose told her friend.
Lily smiles brightly at Rose. "Don't thank me, Rose! I was only thinking about everyone's safety. I mean, we were all put in danger on multiple occasions already."
It was true. Lily also wanted everyone to be prepared for future attacks that might happen outside of their school. She really wanted everyone to be able to defend themselves while she and Cat Noir are fighting an Akuma. Self-defense was something that Lily had trained hard when she old enough to learn. Haoran is going to be a great teacher to all of the students here.
"Oh man, I can't wait for self-defense class today. I'm so pumped!" Kim beamed, punching his fists in the air.
"We're so grateful that you brought the idea of a self-defense teacher to Mr. Damocles," Mylène told Lily, "Now we won't have to fear getting hurt by a supervillain ever again."
"Yeah, but let's get passed learning how to block a punch first." Lily quipped.
Lily and her classmates chuckled.
"By the way, Lily, do you personally know Haoran?" Juleka asked, curious.
Lily nodded, "Yeah, he's one of my uncle Patrick's friends. He was the one who taught me self-defense ever since I was little." She explained, "Haoran has won a lot of martial arts competitions. He's always wanted to teach others how to defend themselves. So when I mentioned to Mr. Damocles about Haoran wanting to find a teaching job for self-defense, he gave him a call and was accepted."
"That's amazing." Kim complimented.
"Seriously, Lily, thanks a lot." Adrien gave his childhood friend a fond gaze.
"No problem." Lily blushes.
Miss Bustier enters just then. "Alright, class, our first subject is History. Grab your books."
School Courtyard
All of the students are facing Mr. Liu. Everyone is smiling and seem excited.
Mr. Liu clears his throat. "Good afternoon, welcome to your first self-defense class. I will be teaching you the basics of fighting and self-defense today. Now, I need a volunteer. Lily, could you come up here?"
"Of course!" Lily beamed.
The designer steps forward and waits for the instructor to begin the lesson.
"Now the first move of self-defense..."
Everyone waited with eager anticipation for Mr. Liu's next words.
"Is to run."
Everyone stares blankly at the self-defense teacher. They were confused.
"Run?" Sabrina asked.
"Run?!" Kim frowned.
"Run...?" Rose taps her chin.
"But isn't that the opposite? Weren't we supposed to learn how to fight, not run away?" Adrien questions.
Mr. Liu shook his head. "Fighting would be your last resort, running away is the safest option when confronted by a supervillain. Even the heroes would tell you that,"
"But what if we have no other option but to fight?" Max asked.
"Then that's where the self-defense block technique comes in." Mr. Liu replied.
"What's that?" Alix tilts her head.
"A block is a defensive maneuver that allows you to prevent an incoming attack from the enemy. Once you've learned how to block, you'll be able to defend yourself." Mr. Liu explained.
The class seems intrigued and attentive.
"Now, Lily, will you be my volunteer to demonstrate with me?" Mr. Liu asked.
Lily nods, "Of course."
"Perfect." Mr. Liu smiled.
"Alright Lily, you will be attacking me with a light punch, and I will block it. Is that simple enough to understand?" Mr. Liu quizzed.
"Yes, sir." Lily replied.
"Okay then, go on..." Mr. Liu waits for her to throw the punch. She does as she told, and he gently blocks her punch, demonstrating the block for the rest of the class to see.
"Like this. Any questions?"
Everyone is excited to learn and ask questions except Marinette. Then her classmates began doing the blocking technique swiftly.
"Good, you're all quick learners and fast to understand," Mr. Liu continues. He demonstrates the block two more times to the students before speaking again. "You all have practiced the block technique now. However, there is still one more move that is required. The counter."
Mr. Liu demonstrates how to execute a counterattack for the class to see.
"Does everyone have an idea or understand what a counterattack is?" He asks.
"A counterattack is a defensive tactic that involves attacking your opponent immediately after they've attacked you. It can be used in boxing, kickboxing, mixed martial arts, wrestling, or other combat sports," Max explained.
"Wow, impressive. Max, did you learn that yourself?" Mr. Liu looks impressed by his knowledge.
"I did." Max confirmed, proud of himself.
"Well, you are absolutely correct," Mr. Liu praises Max, "A counterattack involves immediately retaliating as soon as the opponent makes the first move. That's the idea."
"And what if our self-defense moves are useless?" Marinette asked, sounding annoyed.
Mr. Liu looks at Marinette. "Good question. That's the thing; it's only useless if you don't practice them constantly. Self-defense, like anything, takes time and effort. It's a skill."
The class seem to completely agree with his point.
"Now, we still have to focus on the most important self-defense skill that you all will need." Mr. Liu stated.
Mr. Liu explains every detail about all the self-defense techniques, such as blocks, counters, and evasion. The class takes notes to remember everything.
"Alright, now that I've explained all of the main skills. It's time for us to put these into practice." Mr. Liu announced, "I'm going to pair everyone up and put you in a position for you to practice the moves on each other."
Many of the students look at their classmates excitedly.
"Okay, so first, Sabrina and Nino, Alya and Juleka, Ivan and Kim, Max and Rose, Chloé and Adrien..." Mr. Liu lists off.
All of the students paired up are excited to practice the self-defense moves with one another.
However, when Marinette sees Adrien's name called alongside Chloé's, she gets upset... For obvious reasons. She doesn't want to see her obsession around any girl, especially Chloé.
"Alix and Nathaniel, and finally, Lily and Marinette." Mr. Liu said.
Marinette looks at Mr. Liu with a shocked face. "What?!"
Lily sighs. "Great. I'm stuck with her." She mutters.
Everyone prepares to practice the block technique that was demonstrated earlier.
All of the pairs are blocking each other's attack when it's their turn. The students practice the technique again and again.
Marinette seems to have a hard time performing the block technique. Every time she attempts to deliver the block, Lily easily breaks the shield. She is clearly struggling against the designer.
As class continues, Marinette getting is visibly angry that Lily is performing better than her. She attempts to deliver a block, but Lily breaks through and makes her stumble.
"Lily, take it easy on your partner, okay?" Mr. Liu suggested.
"Okay." Lily replied.
Still, Marinette struggles to perform a decent block. Her technique needs some work, but she keeps failing every time.
"Alright, you've practiced blocking. Now, we need to practice the counterattack." Mr. Liu says to the class.
All of the students ready themselves again, but it's Marinette's turn to attack.
The Dupain-Cheng girl attempts to deliver the attack when Lily suddenly does the counter so quickly and effortlessly that she sends the former stumbling over her feet before she landed on her rear. Her face is filled with disbelief and anger.
"Sorry, Marinette. You okay?" Lily asked, genuinely not meaning to make her fall.
Marinette glares up at Lily. "No, I'm not okay." She gets up.
"It's okay, you'll get better with practice. You just have to learn." Lily reassured, trying to be civil.
Marinette attempts to deliver the attack again, but once more, Lily immediately retaliates and performs the counter.
Mr. Liu, who is watching everyone, is impressed by Lily. "Great counter, Lily!"
The Rossi girl smiles at him and nods.
Marinette's bitter expression is clear is day. She's mad and frustrated by her lack of ability to make any progress. As if she was just gonna transform into some self-defense pro in her first class. Marinette attempts to deliver the attack one more time, but yet again, Lily performs the counter.
Now, Marinette is visibly pissed. She stomps her foot down hard and growls with annoyance. "Why are you countering so good?!"
"I've been practicing in self-defense since I was little. That's why I'm good." Lily stated.
Lily was uncomfortable with Marinette's frustration. She knew what that anger meant, and that it wouldn't take long for the girl's anger to explode. Lily's discomfort is visible. As much as she wanted to turn away, she had a gut feeling that Marinette might take advantage of her distraction. The bluenette had extreme reactions to the simplest of things. It was starting to get annoying.
Unexpectedly, Marinette went to punch Lily. Seeing the attack, Lily quickly caught Marinette's fist. Then Marinette tried with her other fist, but Lily caught it as well. The bluenette tried to get out of Lily's grip, but she growled in anger. Lily pushed her away and then Marinette charged at her. The brunette dodged her attack and Marinette nearly tripped. But then she charged at Lily again with her fist raised and Lily dodged her again. Marinette tried to hit Lily at the last second, but Lily caught her fist and then the other when Marinette tried to hit her. Before the bluenette could do anything else, someone clamped their hand on her shoulder. She glanced at the hand and looked up at Mr. Liu who was frowning at her.
"Marinette, calm down." Mr. Liu ordered.
"I am calm." Marinette said with gritted teeth.
"No, you are not. It's clear to me that you wish to harm Lily." Mr. Liu stated.
Marinette's eyes widened as Lily let go of her hands and Mr. Liu removed his hand from her shoulder.
"N-N-No, I wasn't!" Marinette pleaded as she stood in front of him, waving her hands in front of herself.
"Marinette, do you take me for an idiot?" Mr. Liu's brow arched.
Marinette gulped at the frowning expression on Mr. Liu's face, "N-No, sir."
"It seems to me that you don't have the patience to understand my lessons; I want you to have a time out." Mr. Liu instructed.
"Bu-But-" Marinette stuttered.
"Now, Marinette." Mr. Liu ordered.
Marinette let out a sigh and lowered her head. Then she walked over to the bench and sat down with her chin in her hands. She watched her classmates continue with Mr. Liu's lessons. Mr. Liu was now practicing with Lily. The students seem to ignore her, or they give her some disapproving looks, making her feel more ashamed than ever. Marinette noticed that Adrien would occasionally glance at Lily. She wished that Adrien would glance at her, but he was mainly focused on Lily. The bluenette wondered how she could get Adrien to notice her.
Self-defense class was over. Everyone was leaving to their lockers and go home. Marinette was still sitting on the bench. She didn't feel like leaving yet. She was ashamed, not because she tried to hurt her rival, but because Adrien had to see what she tried to do. She can't stand the thought of Adrien seeing her this way. She's disappointed in herself and just wants to bury herself beneath the ground.
Letting out a sigh, she saw Adrien walking with Lily towards the lockers. The two were talking happily about something. How she wished that she was in Lily's place. Being close to Adrien and talk with him naturally. Once they were out of sight, she lowered her head to the ground until she saw a pair of familiar shoes step into her sight.
"Marinette?"
Marinette looked up and saw Alya, looking worried at her.
"Hey." Marinette said.
"You okay?" Alya asked.
Marinette let out another sigh, "No."
Alya sat down next to Marinette and placed her hand on her shoulder, "Want to talk about it?"
Before Marinette could answer, she heard Adrien and Lily laughing. She looked up and saw the two heading towards Adrien's car. The two went inside and soon drove off.
"How am I ever going to get Adrien to like me?" Marinette asked.
"I don't know, Marinette. I don't know." Alya replied.
At that answer, Marinette was starting to lose hope on making Adrien her boyfriend. Just what can she do to get him to fall in love with her?193Please respect copyright.PENANAyTNMz7nlwI
