I have a fear of disability. Not an irrational fear. Just a fear of one day waking up with a disability. I have had a few scares in my life; near losing a hand a few times, acute blindness, temporary paralysis from the waist down, and loss of voice, to name the ones that scare me most. Due to those encounters, I go out of my way to "be prepared", practising being blind (blind folds), or deaf (ear plugs), and developing mastery with both hands. But it's occurred to me not everyone considers the what ifs of sudden disability.
