"You need a ride back to your dorm? I can give you a ride back there if you want." Ezekiel said he was looking at Selene.

Selene looked at him then looked at her best friend. Jennie sensed something was not right and rushed her way to open the backseat. "Hurry girls, we need to get back before curfew." She said and avoided her friend's curious gaze.

On the way to the dorm, the drive was so quiet you would even hear a needle drop. The three girls were in the backseat while Selene was in the passenger's seat. Finally, not able to stand the awkward silence she started to interrogate the good Samaritan.

"Hey, senior, thanks for the ride. We’re worried about when will we be able to hail a taxi, good thing you offer us a ride. Are you out with your friends as well?"

The two girls in the back looked at each other with raised eyebrows, since when did Selene chat with a stranger? The other girl was out of the question since it was out in the cold.

Ezekiel kept his eyes on the road. "I was out for dinner, alone."

Selene looked at him for a good 2 seconds. What a lonely handsome man... She sighed. "It must have been sad eating alone..." She blurted out subconsciously.

The two girls at the back gasped loudly while the drunk one snored loudly. Ezekiel chuckled.

Selene suddenly realized that she spoke her mind out of habit and tried to amend her mistake. "I'm sorry I tend to speak out whatever is on my mind. Forget it."

"I know. You never changed." Ezekiel whispered to himself.

Selene did not hear what he said because she was already focused on repenting of her sin. However, the two heard it loud and clear. Jennie threw a knowing look at Rose and gestured to her to zip her mouth shut. Rose just nodded like a puppet. After that, the drive became even more awkward. And it was a relief when they reached the university dorm and Selene couldn't wait to get out of the car and bury her head deep into her quilt. "Jennie, help us thank senior for the ride. I'll take care of Sara." Selene said in a rushed tone and dragged the poor drunk girl inside.

Jennie just rolled her eyes and when the three girls were inside the dorm house, Ezekiel made his way out of his car. “You're right, she seemed to have forgotten all about me."

Jennie heard that there was a hint of remorse in the handsome guy's voice. And sighed helplessly... She also couldn't help but snort and looked at the guy. “Do you regret it? After all these years? It's ancient history. Don't tell me, you should be the one who's broken-hearted, not her?" She asked sarcastically.

Ezekiel bowed his head, his eyes covered by his bangs. There's a mournful air around him. "Yes."

Jennie was taken aback. Did she hear him correctly? If she's not mistaken, her best friend was the one who confessed and he was the heartless jerk who rejected her. She will not forget how brokenhearted her best friend was on that day. Her tears and wails, it was really hard to forget since her friend pestered her for almost a week with those wails and drama she created just for her! She had plenty of headaches during those times. "Wait! Let me enlighten you, my best friend confessed to you a couple of days before you left for Australia. Before that, I was sure that you will not reject her since you are showing some motives as well. It was way too close for both of you to confess to each other. Do you know how hopeful she was on that day? And then suddenly you will just..." Jennie can’t continue on her tirade. She just made a big slapping motion on the hood of his car.

"Tell me, what happened to her? When did the accident happen?" Ezekiel asked with seriousness in his voice, not fazed by the loud bang on his car’s hood.

Jennie looked at him, contemplating if it was her place to tell her best friend's story. Though the guy has been a jerk, she’s pretty sure that there is a story behind his rejection of her. After some time... "Well, it was a year ago. A car accident. She and her male cousins were out for a joy ride, out of town. I didn't join her at that time because I was not comfortable with her cousin being there. The road was a bit coarse and it was already dark, they made a wrong turn and tumbled down a deep slope, and the car they were in tumbled down the shallow lake the fall was a bit hard, and so, while some of her cousins were badly injured, thank God they were still alive. Selene suffered a concussion and lost her memory. It has been a year that passed but still, she can't regain all her memories. The great thing about that is she forgot about you. No offense but I felt relieved, she will no longer bother me with all her wailing."

Ezekiel was silent for a while. But then...

"Of course, I need to get her."
