The morning class that day was a bit hectic since the holiday is around the corner. And here in this country, the Christmas season starts in ber- month. The campus is lively like it was affected by the festive season every student was busy with their term paper hoping that they will be done before the holiday break. Selene and her friends were having a rest in a wide and grassy portion of the university's huge field. Almost every student spent their time chatting and doing their homework there. Almost everyone has their group. And so, the rumor that there has been a transferee spread out eventually. And there was something in Selene's eyes telling her friends 'See, I told you.'
Jennie was in the library waiting in line for her turn to check out a book for her assignment when something caught her attention.
So, it’s him! Why is he even here?!
She even looked closely; and for a long time, to make sure she wasn’t mistaken when the librarian that was always grumpy scolded her that she was stalling the line. After she was done checking out the book she looked at the far left corner of the library again. And saw the transferee guy looking at her.
"Oh, shoot!" She can't help but curse.
She was having a hard time thinking if she would go and say hi to him or just leave this place pretending to not see anything. However, the guy beckoned her to come before she can even decide what to do next. She has no way to escape. She slowly made her way to him. And when she was in front of him she studied the guy's features. Indeed, this guy was way more handsome than before. "Hi. Long time no see."
"Jennie, it's been a while. Where's Selene?"
She pursed her lips. and this guy, the first time he spoke to her it was Selene's name that came out first.
"Oh, she's doing fine. You don't need to ask."
"I see, she's doing fine." The guy said. There was a slight sober look in his eyes.
"Are you regretting it? You rejected her before?"
The guy only frowned but did not answer her.
Jennie, sat on the opposite chair disregarding the weird stares from the other students. Do you think I wanted to sit here? She asked them in her mind. "Well, Zeke, it's late for you to regret it, anyway she doesn't remember you nor your rejection."
"What do you mean?"
"Oh, she had an accident a year ago, she lost her memory."
Ezekiel Ramos decided to change university at the very last moment, he had just come back from Australia, and though his family was against it he still can't help returning because something was bugging his mind. And now that he successfully made his way to the same university where she is going, another problem popped up. She no longer remembers him.
"Why? What happened?" Worry was evident in his voice.
But before Jennie was able to answer his question her phone vibrated in her pocket. It was her best friend's text message. And asked how long is she going to take to check out a book. "Zeke, as much as I want to catch up with you, I need to go. How about this, let's set a date- I mean, a meeting and I will tell you everything I know."
And with that Jennie made her way to the university's field and she spotted the three having a good laugh. Selene was even laughing hard. Jennie pursed her lips. 'hmph! If only you knew how I encountered your first love...' she whispered to herself.
"Hey, what took you so long?" Selene asked her.
"The line was really long. I'm hungry, let's find something to eat."
"Sara said she'll treat," Rose said.
"Oh?" Jennie asked.
"Her boyfriend, they seemed to get back together." Selene shared the good news with her eyebrows raised evidently, she’s not surprised, like it’s just the usual occurrence these days. Jennie just rolled her eyes. She can’t believe some girls can be really martyrs.
They were on their way to a sweet's shop when Selene stopped in her track. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. She was about to turn her head and led the three girls the other way, however, she was not able to avert the disaster.
A lady whose tall with a slender waist and a nice figure beside Jennie was stuck in place, she is beautiful with blonde hair and green eyes, small pink lips, and round eyes, it normally looked so captivating but now it is clouded with tears waiting to fall down.
The next thing they knew, Sara was screaming and trying to pick a fight with his boyfriend. The scene that Selene saw was Sara's boyfriend leading a cute girl out of the sweet shop looking all lovey-dovey. The turn of events was so fast it made Selene's head a bit dizzy. The next thing she knew they were on their way to an expensive bar, the sweet treat that her friend was treating became a bitter taste of alcohol. Selene despises the taste of alcohol.
The three girls were accompanying their broken-hearted friend. The girls were drinking their way up to 10 pm when Selene tried to stop Sara from wasting away. The three girls summoned all their forces to heave the barely conscious drunk friend and made their way out of the bar.
"This is so not cool. What are we going to say if we carry her up to the dorm? The dorm lady will be furious!" Rose said miserably. The landlady was a little generous with the mandated curfew, she knew that many of the college students had part-time jobs that lasted until 10 pm, and so she pointed out to be back before 11pm.
Selene was quiet while trying to think of a better excuse to say to the landlady regarding their friend’s state of drunkenness. The four girls were on the sidewalk trying to hail a taxi when a black car stopped in front of them, the window rolled down, and they were all dumbstruck.
“Hell, is that the handsome transferee?!.. “ Rose said. Selene just looked at the guy while Jennie had her mouth half-open.
