Dear Diary,
Today I've met an intersting person in the office. A girl. She was new, staying for two days in the conveyance office as a work experience. You know, getting the right idea how it all works daily here. Although I was on my last year of apprenticeship, I was chosen to show her the right stuff. To be very honest and direct I was not happy with that! Not at all! As the day came I prepared myself for the worst and hoped I would get home alive. Soon I got the phone call from the reception downstairs that she would be here and headed down immediately, in the elevator I took a deep breath. As I walked closer to the reception I saw an average high young woman or girl with rosy natural cheeks. Her figure was lightly plump but healthly and slim to my taste. She wore no make-up and her golden-brown, wavey hair open that they rested on her shoulders. Her clothes were simple, long dark demin jeans, mouse grey jumper, dark red leather boots and a violet scarf. The scarf was very fitting to her, meaning it looked good on her. Her sholder bag was very flowery to my taste, it had pink roses on a beige background. The moment she noticed me she walked up to me, offering her hand to shake. Our eyes met friendly. Never have I seen such eyes like hers! They were pale green with a thing ring of chocolate brown round the pupils and another bigger ring out along the whole iris in grey-blue. The way she introduced herself politely was very warming. She spoke very clear and with great confidence, I sensed no nervousness or uneasiness. I shook her hand as I do to everyone, her hands were cold. But I sensed that German is not her mother tongue due to the small grammar mistakes. In the elevator I explained many thing ahead what she will see and learn today and tomorrow. Then I introduced her to the my office collegues and showed her my daily routine, explaining why doing this, how doing that and so on till it was lunchbreak. Time flew by like seconds as I explained and showed few things. At lunch I had to escourt her and pay the food, boss' orders but I will get back the money if I bring along the receipt. I hoped we would not land in McDonald's or some fast-food place because the food is not enjoyable for my taste and my complection cannot take all the fat and oil at once nor my weight. To my surprise she chose a nice restaurant where you can eat good Asian food on a healthy level and the price was cheap because it was a self-service restaurant. She ate politely with chopsticks and sipped at times her big cup of green tea while I had mine with the help of a plastic spoon. We held a pleasant conversation about ourselves, in a way sharing our stories of life. Mine was simple at one place while her's was in two places and multiple langauges and cultures. I have learned she lived eight years in south of Sweden, went to International School and many other schools here in Switzerland. Although half Swiss and German her mother-tongue is Swiss-German and English, even when there are no English speaking relatives in her family to prove. She just picked up English better than German, were her exact words. Even her name and pale complection does give the impression that she might be Irish, Scottish or English. The way she told her live was filled with a pleasant sense of humor and can laugh about herself, dare to look back at her mistakes and learn from them also great failers and not fret to try something new. Her choice of words were well thought and creative, a combination of English at time and French. As I told mine to her, I had a bad feeling that she will fall asleep of boredom, but no! She listened with greatest attention and understood in many hard situations perfectly as if she was there all along! The afternoon continued and let another collegue show her while I can catch up with my work. Now the day is nearly over and I cannot stop thinking about her.
