It was a dark and stormy night,

And my shadow shook beneath the rain.

My soul began to compress, tight,

As tears made my hands salty and stained

With the guilt and fear that sat below

The surface of my chest.

Inside myself, fury grows

And is released without rest.

It was a dark and stormy night,

And no one came looking for me.

So I wept alone in tangled fright,

Because my heart wondered too far to see.
