The Feels - Dreams

I wasn't the talented one

The one born with it all

I have dreams too...

but they mean nothing when you have nothing to show

I want to be so much

but I'm not... not enough

no matter how much I try

and how I beg for the chance

they tell me I'm not enough

that it is useless trying

that... that I should just give up

and one day

I fell... I believed them

that I can never be what they want

never be enough

this is just who I am

and yet I still dream,

imagine,

think,

all the intriguing yet impossible ideas come to mind

I still yearn for what I can't be

Someone with a meaning, a purpose,

Someone that is a leader and an influencer

My dreams are fake, hopeless

an insurmountable height

and now that I look back

have I really been trying?

was I really that ambitious?

or was it all talk

these stairs that I take

they never end, swirling into the abyss

yet I'm afraid to leave them

they are my only lifeline

to keep me safe from society and its madness

to keep me safe from my family

to keep me safe from myself...

In the end... I'm no one

Too much dreams,

hope,

and...

not enough of anything

I want to be too much
