The Highlights of my Late Nights - A Call To Arms! (Help)

I mentioned in a previous highlight that I have been focusing on my music lately; writing has actually taken a bit of a backseat to... Well, writing music. I'm doing my best to record an album at the same time I'm doing my best to finish a novel (which is to say I'm giving neither one the effort it deserves, but that's neither here nor there.)

My biggest problem is with my lyrics; I'm afraid I'm just not a great lyricist. I find I write lyrics a lot like I write prose, which translates to overly wordy songs or overly banal songs.

So I'm reaching out to all of you for help! I think my biggest problem is poetry. Lyrics are only poetry put to music, right? I don't read enough poetry and I don't have much of a poetic background, but I know many of you do!

Please please please, link me your favorite poems! Give me recommendations, show me stuff you've written! I want to laugh, I want to cry, I want to think, I want you to help me experience beauty so I can create beauty. if you're reading this I 100% expect you to leave a comment or shoot me a PM, you have no excuse!
