石黑拉開被子，不情願地從床上爬起來。石黑穿上牛仔褲及格仔上衣，把凌亂的頭髮撥弄了一下。他走到窗前，看著瑪爾大把落葉掃走，又看見志朗和小梅拿著溜冰鞋離開山莊。石黑坐回床上開始他的小習慣—小睡後發白日夢。但他今天卻立刻起來，打開房門，他欣賞著走廊上的壁畫，其中一幅更吸引着石黑。那幅畫中有一個小房子被大火、爆炸和山崩給破壞著，最中變成一團瓦礫。石黑看著看著，流下了淚。喵！吉爾發出悲鳴，摩擦著石黑的小腿。原來這黑貓不只會發出令人心寒的吼叫或睡覺的嚕嚕聲，還會悲鳴呢。石黑心想，然後對吉爾露出笑容。「謝謝。」石黑摸摸吉爾說。喵！吉爾點點頭，轉個身，往窗口一跳，在秋葉間消失了。「我沒有忘記我們的目標！」石黑看著那幅畫說道。
