Rose laid on the couch with her shoulder in a sling and gauze wrapped tightly around her stomach. She flipped through the television channels as she stopped at a channel with a breaking news story. The reporter then spoke,
“Breaking news. Man spotted attacking a woman on the train. Police have identified him as 36 year old Eric Redway. We also have an eyewitness to tell us his story exclusively. Now, Henry, you said you saw the attack, correct?”
“Yes. I sprinted through the station because I was running late. As I waited with the other passengers to get on I looked up and noticed the man grabbing a woman through one of the windows. I hope she’s doing okay.”
“Thank you for speaking to us. And to our viewers, we’ll keep you updated on this story as it develops.”
Rose then picked up her phone and sent David a quick text. “Did you hear about the woman who got attacked on the train? Also, would you be able to pick me up some of those chocolate covered strawberries? Love you.”
She smiled after she sent the text. Rose couldn’t believe she told David that she loved him. It was difficult for her to be in the same job, much less the same unit as the man she loved. Rose slowly began to stand up from the couch as she heard the front door open. “Sarah, what are you doing here?”
“Hey don’t get up,” Sarah said as she walked close to Rose.
“I’m fine. I need to get up and stretch anyway.” Rose said with a laugh and continued “well what’s going on? What’s happening?”
“David actually dropped off my groceries at my house.”
“Groceries? David traveled all the way from the precinct to your house?”
“No. I had an incident this afternoon. It’s too long to explain.”
Rose smiled and said “I have all the time in the world.
About 30 minutes later Rose listened to Sarah finish her story. “Why does this keep happening to you?’ Rose said with a frown.
“I wish I knew.”
“I’m so glad David’s helping you out.”
“Me too. I’m also happy he’s with you.”
“As they say a happy wife makes a happy life.”
“Wait...do you mean you’re-” Sarah interrupted herself with a gasp.
“No. But we did say that we loved each other.”
“Really, when?”
“After I woke up in the hospital. He’s just the best.” Rose said with a grin.
“I hate to bring this up, but…” Rose detected Sarah’s nervousness when she asked.
“Yes?”
“Do you think I still need protective detail?”
“Well, I know you didn’t have one while you and Chris were on vacation.”
“Yes, it was lovely. Just to get away.”
“I can talk to the team, but the Captain is the one who is going to have the final decision.”
“Hey, guys.”
Both women turned towards the front door as David entered his home. He held two boxes of chocolate in his hands.
“Ooo is that for me?” Rose said after David quickly kissed her.
“One’s for you and the other for Sarah.”
“Did you get yourself anything?” Rose questioned popping a chocolate into her mouth.
“No. I just figured I could have some of yours.”
“No,” both women said in unison then laughed.
“What’s yours is mine and what’s mine is mine.” Rose chuckled.

Rose smiled at Sarah and wondered who was on the phone.
