Waking with a start as something brushed against his cheek, Calix rolled off the couch and onto the floor. Groaning his obvious discomfort, he picked himself up before wrapping his hand tightly along his midsection, chewing his lip as he did so. The sound of something small scampering along the floor then drew his attention to the pile of wires stationed nearby prior to spotting the small, metal creature known as SHU as it popped its head up. As it began to chirp, Cal made his way over slowly, uttering his irritation of being woken as well as his displeasure relating the growing pain throughout his entire body.
"You know it's rude to wake people up," he groused, earning a rather annoyed chirp as a response. "Ever heard of the saying, 'let sleeping dogs lie'?"
Receiving the same sound from before, Calix rolled his eyes before looking around for the robot's creator followed by the taller redhead. Hobbling over to the surveillance area of their little hideout, Cal took a seat slowly, exhaling heavily in the process.
"You're up."
Slowly turning his chair, Cal leaned back to see Will coming in with a box of wires and lights. "Do you need any help?"
"Are you offering?" she asked, receiving a stiff shrug as a reply. "You should be sleeping, CL. Don't worry about me, ok?"
"I'm not tired," Catching the woman's gaze, Cal turned away, holding a wince in the process. "If anything, I feel great."
"SHU, is that true?" To that, the little bot scurried towards a computer monitor. Hooking itself to a jack, it uploaded a short clip of the raven stumbling about upon waking up. "You feel great, huh?"
Chocolate-colored eyes narrowed at the miniature robot that chirped. "Snitch." Calix then turned away as the thing chattered sporadically. "You so totally are a snitch."
"Stop picking on my SHU!" Said thing hurried towards its owner prior hurrying up its creator's leg. "You may be injured but no need to take it out on him!"
"Take it out on-what are you talking about?" the raven groused as he got to his feet. He then stumbled, grabbing a hold of the chair to keep himself from toppling over. "You know what? I think it's time for me to go."
"You need to rest!"
"I just woke up, dammit. I've been sleeping, what, two to three hours?"
"Try since yesterday evening."
"Yester-what time is it now?" The teen looked about before spotting the time on the monitors. "It's nearly four in the afternoon!"
"Well, yeah. You nearly slept twenty four hours."
"I need to get home."
"Cal, relax. Mal knows you're with us."
"I rather be at home."
"That's rather new." Cal mustered a glare. "If anything, you're usually trying to get out of the place," Will said. "I mean, you come here after school, on the weekends, you sneak out past your bed time and all."
"I do not have a damn bed time and as if you're one to talk!" he shot back. "I don't see you going back home! You're always here!" Dark eyes narrowed at each other. "What's your goddamn excuse?"
To that, Will turned away. "Go home, Lefay."
"What, no quirky comeback, Faith?"
Coming to stop, Will went to look over her shoulder but paused in favor of gesturing towards the door. "Get out."
"What?"
"You wanted to leave so bad, right?" she asked. "Then get out! Leave!"
Receiving a glare, Calix took a step back before making his way towards the exit. "Fine; I will!" Storming out the door, he looked over his shoulder to have the thing slide shut in his face. 'What the hell is her goddamn problem?' he mused before grabbing his side. "Dammit…"
Taking a knee, he chewed his lip before getting to his feet. Looking off ahead, he observed the somewhat dilapidated warehouses littering the area before staring off at the old high rises stretching the streets just past the district.
It was going to be a long way home without any aspirins. Hell, he even welcomed the redhead to escort him. At least he would be a distraction from the pain. After that thought, something then donned on him.
He hadn't seen Renyx since he had fallen asleep last night.
It really wasn't like him to leave without saying something, at least a text or a voicemail at the latest.
It was odd but Calix had to put that behind him as he wandered down the beaten road.
His mind was going to have to think of ways for him to make it back home without collapsing like a ragdoll.581Please respect copyright.PENANAm7MUZLSubE
Watching as another smoldering punching bag was extinguished then dragged out of the training room; Tyson looked down at his hands to see the thin wisps of smoke before noting the bit of soot that covered his knuckles. Glancing up as the fifth punching bag was put into place, the red-eyed raven clenched his hand into a fist before striking the bag. When no mark was seen, not even a dent, Ty took a step back before kicking his foot out, catching it where a person's throat would be. Lowering his leg, the officer pivoted to his other leg, kicking the bag several times in quick repetition before punching the bag in the center. He continued to do this, alternating between punching the center and sides prior to kicking the thing hard enough to knock it from its chain. Looking towards the thing as it sagged to the floor, the officer noticed the char marks on the otherwise unscathed bag before stalking towards it.
"That's enough, Tyson." Watchful, tawny eyes observed the younger man as he dragged the bag back to its post to be mounted once more. "I've been notified that you've already been through four of them. They do cost money."
"Something I'm sure you have plenty of," he replied, enunciating each word with a solid blow. "Is there something I can help you with?" Not receiving a reply, Ty grabbed a hold of the bag, trying to compose himself before turning to face the Director. "Sir?"
Catching the ire, despite the level of self-control, the older gentleman slid his hands into his pockets before turning away. "Evren is just about finished with the last of his paperwork. I believe I saw him headed to your office some time ago. He has other things that he still has to do. You should at least meet him in there." he said as he walked out.
"You should at least meet him in your there."
Though it could have been taken as a suggestion, the statement was an order.
'Done with his paperwork…'
Punching the bag at the thought, Tyson sighed irritably before striking the object again. When it mere swung the chain, the raven clenched his fist and struck it hard enough to not only to take it off its post but also crash right into the wall across the room. Grabbing his towel, he swung it over his shoulder as he walked out but not before noticing how the workers eyed the hole that was burned completely through.
Plodding down the hallway, Tyson looked to the floor to ceiling windows to see the bustling day life of Polaris below. Sneering somewhat of the thought of any of them being remotely happy, he shoved his hands into his pockets, yet could not hide away the thin wisps of smoke seeping through the material of his shorts. He then came to a halt once he made it to his office. Looking around, he didn't see Evren anywhere. Not sure if the man had even come by yet, Ty toweled his hair dry as he walked into the room. Finding the switch, he lowered the towel when he didn't hear the sound of lights coming on. Glancing around, he sighed as he held up a hand.
'Damn Director is worried about punching bags but can't even keep the goddamn lights on in a fucking room,' he thought irritably as he crossed his quarters. His gaze then panned over to the sitting area when he noticed the sound of what could've been a small bulb blinking. 'What is that?'
Circling the black easy chair stationed nearby, Tyson looked down to see the white-haired man sleeping. Taking a knee, the officer lowered his hand, brightening the red glow that was already filling the otherwise dark room. Finding it odd how Evren was actually sleeping in his office of all places, Ty pondered on the thought for only a few seconds before he noticed the dark circles under the man's eyes. They looked even dark with the light he was producing. Barely making of the sound of sleep coming from the man, red eyes glanced down to see a small bulb held carefully in the man's hands. It seemed to blink with every unconscious facial expression its holder made. Seeing his subordinate's brow furrow, Tyson brushed the pink-tinted hair aside before running his hand through its tresses until the expression had softened.
"Evren…" Being greeted with a turquoise-colored eye followed by the jade one, Ty offered a smile before his gaze snapped down to see the bulb that had shattered in the man's grasp. "It's ok," he said quickly when the other stiffened prior to bolting upright. "You're ok, but your hands though."
Mismatched eyes regarded the shards before curling his fingers in his lap as he noted the dark red streams littering his hands. "I…I apologize," he said quickly and quietly. "I…I guess I dozed off while waiting." The man then hardened his gaze as he looked at the other. "You shouldn't have made me wait!"
Seeing the glare falter before Evren looked away altogether, Ty stood back up prior to offering a hand. "You're right, but let's get your hand cleaned up. You're going to stain your clothes."
Staring at the offered hand, Evren stood up himself, squeezing his hands tighter as he felt the red streams run down his skin to fall onto the floor. "My paperwork is on your desk," he said as he passed by. "Excuse me."
"Wait." Walking over to the desk, Tyson picked up the documents. "There's something wrong here."
Looking over his shoulder as he smelled smoke, Evren turned completely to see the papers burning steadily in the man's hands. His eyes then widened as the raven opened his hands to let the ash fall to the ground. Taking a step back as the man clapped the soot from his hands, Evren backed into the wall before lowering his head.
"I went through so much just to get those signatures," he muttered as the other began to walk towards him. Resting a hand on either side of Evren's head, Ty watched as the man began to tremble. "Do you hate me that much?"
Tilting the other's chin up, Tyson stared at the tired face. "You didn't sleep last night, did you?"
To that, Evren knocked his hand away. "I'm fine," he muttered as the lights flickered.
"Is that right?" Red eyes then glanced up at the ceiling. "If you're the one who messed with the lights, could you turn them back on? I mean, if you're up for it. If you're too tired then don't bother." Watching as the shorter man looked up at the lights, Tyson grabbed a hold of Evren's hand, inadvertently startling the man and turning on the lights at the same time. "Well, that's one way to do it."
"Let go of my hand," Evren ordered before frowning. "Let go of me. I have to do the forms again."
"Do you really want to be reassigned?"
"Tyson, let go. I have to get more forms."
"Evren."
Said person lowered his head as he pulled at his hand. "The Director is going to be upset."
"Evren, do you really want to be reassigned?"
"If I bide my time, I should be able to get th-"
"Evren!" The name was more than a growl. "Evren." The man kept his head down. "Evren, do you want to be reassigned?"
"I don't have a choice in the matter."
"Do you?"
"I don't have-"
"Look at me!" Tyson ordered, forcing the man's head up. "Do you want to be reassigned?"
"What do you think?" Evren snapped prior to looking away. "It's my chance to get away from you! This could be a new start for me! I mean, I don't have to worry about you harassing me anymore!"
"Due to certain circumstances and complications, you will no longer be a part of the task force."
Watching the mismatched eyes widened before trembling slightly, Tyson took the man by the hand before ushering him out the office. Not receiving any verbal or physical forms of rebuttal, the man walked the other to his room and led him to the space designated as the living room. Leaving him there momentarily, Tyson returned with a towel, bowl of water, bandages and peroxide. Tending to the quieter male's injuries, Ty looked up on occasion to see that the other's expression had hardly changed. When he was done, he put everything away before venturing to the kitchen. Upon his return, he knelt down by the couch the other was sitting in before presenting a glass.
"Evren" Aforementioned took a moment or two but did look down at the raven. "Evren, take it," Tyson said as he coaxed the tumbler into his hand.
Wrapping bandaged fingers carefully along the glass, Evren eyed the dark brown coloring of the liquid presented to him. Glancing at the man sitting on the floor with a drink in hand, Evren held the glass tighter before taking a sip. Lowering the glass slowly, he paused when he noticed the dark pair of eyes watching him now and then. Drinking the rest of the content in his glass, Evren set the container down simply to have it filled with the same thing.
"I…I-"
"Just drink," Tyson replied as he set his glass down. "It should help you unwind a bit. Even someone like you should know that." He looked up to see slivers of apprehension. "You've…drank before, haven't you?" Evren averted his gaze. "Oh…uh, well, if you don't like it, I can get you something else."
Closing his mouth as quick as he had opened it, Evren merely shook his head before looking down at the drink in his hands. Glancing over at the other man to see that he was leaning back against the couch, enjoying his own drink, Evren slowly downed the rest of the offered beverage before setting the glass on the table.
"Ty-"
"Don't bother trying to say anything," he interrupted as he got to his feet. "There's no point in speaking when you don't want to." Tyson then spared the man on the couch a glance before heading towards the kitchen for more ice. "Talk to me when you actually want to, not because I'm right here."
Bowing his head, the white-haired male stared at his lap for the time being. Remaining that way even as the raven took a seat on the floor once more, Evren only looked up to see another filled glass being presented to him. Averting his gaze simply to have the thing eased into his hands, he sighed softly before setting it in his lap again.
"I…I-"
"Evren, shut up already." Looking over his shoulder to see the ex-officer play with the edge of the glass, Tyson drank the rest of his drink before setting the cup down in favor of facing the other. "Are you going to drink it or shall I get you water or something?"
"This is fine," Evren replied as he focused on the brown liquid swirling lazily in his cup.
Turning his attention to the clock some time later, Tyson got to his feet before turning his attention towards his guest. Seeing the light blush tinting the bridge of his nose, Ty pulled the liquor bottle out of reach before doing the same with the half-filled tumblers.
"I think you've had enough, Evren." Aforementioned merely straightened before having his hand seized as he made a grab for the glass. "You don't need anymore."
"And you know what's best for me now?" he asked as he yanked his hand back "You're not the boss of me."
Shaking his head as he stared at the man's expression, Ty shoved him back down onto the couch before raising an eyebrow. "You're drunk."
"Am…not."
Shaking his head again, the raven grabbed the glasses and liquor before walking them back to the kitchen. Coming back to see Evren lying face down on the sofa, possibly sleeping, Ty rolled his eyes before taking a knee alongside the couch.
"Evren, c'mon, don't sleep on my couch," he grumbled. "…Evren?" Said person merely buried his face in his arms before asking a question. "What?" All the man heard was a slurred mumble. "Evren, stop covering your damn face." The one lying down simply grumbled again prior to being flipped over. "Now speak clearly," Tyson ordered with a bit of an edge in his voice.
"DoyaknowwhereI'mgoin'?"
"What?"
Massaging the side of his head as he received another partially slurred response, red eyes studied the somewhat disheveled appearance of his teammate. Pale tresses hung at odd angles, some resting just shy of the pair of hazy, mismatched eyes. The usual pale, almost deadpan face held a bit of a pink hue that dusted the bridge as well as cheeks. Catching the faintest scent of alcohol still on the man, Tyson leaned forward before stopping himself after realizing what he was doing.
Combing a hand through his hair in a frustrated manner, Ty lolled on the couch, throwing his head back to look at the ceiling. 'Why'd you have to be drunk of all times, dammit!' He then looked down as he felt Evren settle in his lap. "What… what are you doing?" he asked slowly, watching the other carefully. "Ev-"
Tapping the raven on the lips, Evren slowly lowered his hand as he leaned in. "DoyouknowwhereI'mgoin?"
"You're slurring your speech, Ren." Aforementioned asked in the same manner. "Ok, ok. Maybe it's time for you to go," Tyson replied before noting how the oddly-colored eyes widened slightly. 'Wait a minute…' Watching the man avert his gaze, Tyson tilted Evren's chin up. "Do…do you want to be reassigned?"
The officer's eyes seemed to tremble slightly as Evren merely shook his head. "I…I wanna stay," he said slowly as he looked down, "but I've become defective, right? I won't know what ta do if I'm not an officer but I can't be one anymore, right? 'm defective…useless"
The response he received was rather unexpected and seemed completely out of character.
Hearing the question again, and followed up with a downtrodden expression, Tyson opened his mouth yet nothing seemed to come out.
At one point, he had called Evren defective.
"Due to certain circumstances and complications, you will no longer be a part of the task force."
The Director had even confirmed as much when he dismissed Evren yesterday.
'You're not…' Curling his fingers in his lap, red eyes averted themselves. 'I don't know what you are…'
As the defeated expression on the smaller male's face deepened, Tyson combed his fingers through ashen hair before resting his forehead against the other's.
"'m no g…good," Evren muttered brokenly. "I'll hafta leave, but I don't wanna…"
Straining to hear him, though he was practically sitting in his lap, Tyson frowned before pressing a kiss to the pallid cheek.
When the words ceased, he pulled back slowly before pausing at the lightest of touches to his cheek. Turquoise and jade-colored eyes watched carefully before their owner mimicked the action just substituting the other's mouth for his cheek. Feeling the other's tongue swipe across his bottom lip, Tyson fought the urge to take charge before pulling away from the other that had decided to wrap his arms along his shoulder.
Bringing one of Evren's hands up to his mouth, dark eyes watched the odd pair as Ty pressed a kiss to the back of it. 'He didn't…mean that kiss. He's just upset…and drunk.'
