Right now I’m sitting at the dining table waiting for my parents to come and give me the long awaited lecture. I kind of regret not going straight to school, but at the same time I don’t. My parents are walking towards me now and the only thing I see is the word disappointed slapped all over their faces. “Ashleigh, what is going on?, we’ve only been here five days, you haven’t even been to school yet and you’re already misbehaving” said dad, he continued “you know that your bad habits are what caused us to move, we’ve chosen to put everything that happened in Morrocan Valley Behind us. How can you forget about it so easily? Those kids tormenting you, posting about you all over social media, have you forgotten the amount of suicidal thoughts you had? Please don’t repeat the past Ashleigh, learn from your mistakes”. “Honey, your father is right, you hanging out with those kids is a bad idea, it won’t end well, remember what we said about your other friends, and look what ended up happening. Your our only child, we love you and we’re just trying to look out for you, promise you won’t be influenced by those kids again”. I thought long and hard about what happended in Morrocan Valley, it was the worst time of my life, but then I think about the fact that I’ve made friends, I can’t just tell them that I can’t come to the party on Friday. “I promise I’ll stop hanging around with them mum and dad” I replied. I’ll just go to the party on Friday and I’ll stop hanging around them too much, I mean it’s only four more days that I’ll be hanging with them, and what harm will one party do?
Now that my parents have told me to stop hanging with Keelie, Sean and Jordan, I don’t think I can tell them about the party, especially with the memory of Morrocan Valley. Let’s face it, I’m going to have to go beyond boundaries if I want to go to the party on Friday. I better text Keelie about the change of plans, I just hope she won’t think it’s too much effort to come to my house and help me sneak out.
As I’m doing so, I hear a knock on my door, I drop my phone and give the person permission to enter. “How’s my little Reyes girl holding up?” Said mom “not too bad, I’m really sorry I didn’t go straight to school” “it’s not okay that you did that, you had us worried, but thank you for apologising, I know you’ll do better”, I hugged my mother, and as I do it brings back memories of me hugging her during the rough times I had, I can’t imagine how she felt, seeing as I am her little Reyes girl. My mom went on to say “your father and I have an important meeting to attend at work on Friday, we won’t be back till the next day, I really don’t want to have to ask you this, but do you think you’ll be okay? If not, we can always get you a sitter or someone, or even take you along, because that is a long time”, “no, mom, I’ll be fine, I’ll stay inside and watch shows, I can even order takeaway for dinner, I’ll be fine I swear” I said calmly, my heart was filled with joy and excitement knowing that there’s nothing stopping me from going to the party on Friday. “Alright honey, goodnight” my mother said, I kissed her goodnight and she left. Now all I had to do was text Keelie saying everything’s alright and no plans have changed.
