The soft and silent snowfall sifts slowly through the air,
Flittering and floating in plumes like little white butterflies.
The festive season brings about only warm feelings to share,
Even when there's nothing but cold clouds covering the skies.
.
Inside you can hear the crackling of charred logs burning,
While the chattering faces brave the cold with excited hearts.
The atmosphere is filled with joy and faces smiling
As the dawn draws nearer towards the mark on the charts.957Please respect copyright.PENANAWkQpTuKuJ6
.
Colours of green, red and gold litter the gifts and tree,
With little candles lit to light the way for Santa.
So the drowsy and drooping eyes of children go to bed with glee
In anticipation of the new day to bring about the festive bonanza.
.
As the rays of sunlight wake the children from their sleep,
They move in leaps and bounds towards the lit up tree.
As they peep at everything that is in the wrapped up heap,
With the adults stirring from their slumber from the cries of glee.
.
As the gifts and love from the festive day are passed around,
The smiles on everyone's faces make the early morning pleasant.
So as the Christmas bells begin to sound
Everyone proceeds to dive into their presents.
.
This one gets a train set and the other gets a boat,
While another gets a snow globe with a 'P' pluming smoke.
Someone gets a pair of mittens and a warm winter coat,
While another tries to use their magic box of jokes.
.
While the children play with their new toys
The adults prepare for the feasts to come.
With the feelings of the day flooding in waves of joy,
The family and friends come together as one.
.
The table is presented with dishes only one can imagine,
With all the foods one waits for a whole year for.
Not to eat until you can't move would be a cardinal sin,
You'll have to eat until you can't move anymore.
.
After a feast the play must shortly follow,
As the new toys and gifts need some breaking in.
With some exchanging hands to see and to borrow,
The fun and games can now begin.
.
A teeny tiny town created with an encircling moat,
And the train tracks set down to follow the stream.
Now the down the river we can see a little boat float,
And the children's faces that are set in a proud beam.
.
As the day draws to a close and the excitement turns to exhaustion,
The little pitter patter of feet of the children makes it's way upstairs.
Leaving only the adults to sit around the embers flickering in irritation,
With a pot of hot chocolate enough for everyone to share.
.
The night grows silent as the moon rises high in the skies
And the stars twinkle brightly against the dark.
Now somewhere in this inky darkness a child sits and sighs,
Watching a snow globe snow with a train and boat in park.
.
A gift this child has still so much to learn from that is now unknown,
Holding it in her hands to further study the sphere.
She notices the little plaque with a single phrase standing alone
And her make a wish gives her sudden cheer.
.
With a full day of laughter and festive joy,
The day finally ends at the strike of midnight.
As everyone enjoyed how the day allowed them to indulge in their ploys,
And wakes up to the next day still happy like the previous night.
