Chapter Five- New Assignments Part 2
“Wait, what now?” Gem asked, spitting out his drink all over the place.
Moony wiped coffee and spit off of her face and looked down at her ruined white doctor’s coat. She sighed, trying to dab out the coffee with a napkin. She turned her light blue eyes to the knight. “You heard it right, Gem. Your new assignment starts tomorrow.”
Gem huffed and crossed his tanned arms. “I will not do this role! It is unbefitting of a knight of my stature and ranking!”
Moony rolled her eyes, throwing the soggy napkin in his face. “You ain’t a knight anymore, bruh. Not until you’re assigned to play a knight. From here on out, you’re the Man’s bitch. You do whatever the Man wants you to. Kapeesh?”
“I shall not do it,” Gem replied stubbornly.
Moony grabbed Gem by his shirt collar and hauled him up to her eye level. There was a flame sparking somewhere deep within her pupils, and her voice went dark and husky. “Listen here, Gem, my end of the week bonus check is riding on you being a good lil sport and doing this simple lil job. You don’t do this job; I don’t get my bonus check which means I can’t buy Mr. Incher’s Baby Brother. And I don’t think you’d like me if I don’t get Baby Brother.”
A quiet squeak escaped Gem’s lips, and he nodded furiously. “Yes, mam. I’ll do it, mam.”
Moony’s menacing expression instantly morphed into its usual cute smile. She dropped Gem back into his seat, walking off. “Righteous! The Fitting Rooms are in the back! Talk to Pierre.”
