Wait, What Now?
Chapter Four- New Assignments
Moony sat down at a small booth table with an iced coffee and a sigh. Her light blue eyes scanned the dim interior of the coffee shop, people watching for a few seconds before she turned back to her notes pinned to her clipboard. She skimmed over the small thin yellow carbon copy paper on top of the stack.
“Hey hey hey! Moony! Long time, no see. What’s up, girl?”
Moony glanced up from her paperwork to see the beaming face of one of her best friends, Jack Daniels. Moony grinned back at him. “Hey, Jack. Whatcha been up to lately?”
“I asked you first yo,” Jack said. He leaned his elbows on the table and rested his head on his hands.
Moony laughed, sipping at her iced coffee. “Heh. Alright. I’ve been busy with r-ing a knight who just died a couple of days ago. He doesn’t want to accept that he is fit to fulfill other roles in his character life.” She drummed her fingers on the table. “He’s quite stubborn.”
Jack nodded knowingly. “Most knights are. You weren’t here when King Arthur died finally, but holy hell that guy put up a fight during r-ing. He didn’t want to be reassigned and all that.” Suddenly, there was an odd glint to his green eyes. “Does he have the long, flowing Fabio hair?”
“Bingo, buddy,” Moony said. She yawned, completely exhausted. “Talk about a clichéd hero.”
Jack nodded. “I know what you mean. I just spent the past shift trying to wrangle a crazed high school werewolf back into his bed. He kept wanting to take his shirt off and howling for some chick named Stella or Bella.”
“Huh. Were wolves are dumb,” Moony said.
“And bitey.”
Jack’s green eyes strayed over the pink paper on Moony’s clipboard, and a small, malicious smile crept over his face. He laughed and slapped his knee. “You can’t be serious. Oh, that’s too rich, man.”
Moony cocked an eyebrow. “What’s so funny?”
“Read the paper, Moony!”
