很多外國人都覺得中國學生沒有禮貌，因為他們在日常生活中，甚少會說 please 和 thank you。

Please 本身有「麻煩你」或者「請求」的意思，所以當你請別人為你做事的時候，即使對方願意，你還是應該說 please 或者 thank you。

當我們想請別人為我們做事，例如別人問你：​Would you like a cup of tea?（你想要一杯茶嗎？）

如果你只回答：Yes. 雖然文法上沒有錯，但聽起來並不禮貌，應該說：Yes, please.

如果你想拒絕別人，也不應該直說：No. 因為這樣也是很不禮貌，應該說：No, thanks.
