對於英文不是母語的人來說，文法最容易出錯的地方之一，就是：

主詞和動詞不一致。

英文裡，主詞是單數還是複數，會影響後面的動詞。

例如：

✘ The books on the table was open.

這句是錯的，因為 books 是複數，所以後面不能用 was，而要用 were。

正確說法是：

桌上的書都是打開的。

再看一個常見錯誤：

✘ Was there many people?

這句也不對，因為 many people 是複數，所以應該用 were。

正確說法是：

那裡有很多人嗎？

如果是單數，就用 was：
