As the weeks passed...

Helping each other with homework became completely normal.

If I didn't see Korn after school...

It felt as though I had forgotten something.

Not because I needed help.

But because I had gotten used to seeing him.

One afternoon, our last class ended earlier than expected.

The corridors quickly filled with students.

I packed my bag and walked outside.

As usual, Narin was waiting for me.

"There you are."

"I thought your teacher would keep you longer."

"So did I."

He smiled.

"Great."

"Let's go to the canteen before everyone else."

The canteen was unusually quiet.

Most students were still in class.

Narin bought two cold drinks and placed one in front of me.

"I paid."

"You always pay."

"That's because you never let me copy homework for free."

I laughed.

"That's your own fault."

While we were talking, I noticed Korn walking past the canteen with two classmates.

One of them accidentally dropped a stack of papers.

Without saying a word...

Korn bent down to help.

His friends thanked him before hurrying away.

As he stood up, he happened to look toward the canteen.

Our eyes met.

He smiled politely.

I smiled back.

Then he continued walking.

Narin noticed.

"You two seem to get along well now."

I nodded.

"We've been helping each other with homework."

"I'm glad."

"He doesn't have many people he's close to."

I looked at Narin.

"Really?"

"He has friends."

"But..."

"He usually keeps everything to himself."

I quietly thought about that.

Somehow...

It sounded exactly like the Korn I knew.

After we finished eating, Narin remembered he had promised to help the sports teacher.

"You don't mind waiting a little?"

"Not at all."

"I'll be thirty minutes."

"Take your time."

He smiled and ran toward the gym.

I decided to spend the time in the library.

It was peaceful.

Only a few students were there.

I found a table near the window and opened my notebook.

A few minutes later...

Someone pulled out the chair across from me.

I looked up.

"Korn?"

He smiled.

"I thought I'd find you here."

"You did."

He placed two cartons of chocolate milk on the table.

"I bought one for you."

I looked at him in surprise.

"You didn't have to."

"I know."

"But..."

"I remembered you said chocolate milk helps you study."

I laughed softly.

"I only said that once."

"You remembered?"

He scratched the back of his neck.

"I remember small things."

I accepted the drink.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

For the next hour...

We studied together in silence.

Occasionally...

One of us asked a question.

The other answered.

No unnecessary words.

No awkwardness.

Just two people sharing a quiet afternoon.

When the library bell rang, signaling closing time, I closed my notebook.

"I actually finished everything."

Korn smiled.

"I told you chocolate milk helps."

I laughed.

"So that's your secret?"

"Maybe."

As we walked toward the school gate, I saw Narin waiting outside.

"There you are!"

He waved at me.

"I've been looking everywhere."

"I was in the library."

Narin looked at Korn.

"Thanks for keeping him company."

Korn smiled politely.

"It wasn't a problem."

Narin put his arm around my shoulders.

"Come on."

"Let's go home."

I nodded.

"See you tomorrow, Korn."

"See you tomorrow, P'Phawin."

As Narin and I walked away...

I turned around once.

Korn was still standing at the school gate.

He raised his hand slightly.

I waved back.

It was only a small gesture.

But for some reason...
