The rules of the tournaments are simple: 1) there are no rules. This shocked the trio, Anas thought of everything the opponent can do, ambushes, underhanded tactics and more, so the trio decided to form a plan.
"Kill everyone. That is basically it. During our matches, if anyone tries to sabotage us, we kill them," Anas said and this plan was a bit shocking for the other two, but they went along with it.
The first few rounds were easy, no one could have done anything to them, even if their opponent is a beast folk or mages, it was easy for them. However, they saw a boy with actual skills. The announcer shouted "The next battle will be between whoever this is and the Smiling Psychopath who won 5 of these in a row, Echo!!"
"This Echo guy is impressive, but he might just had weak opponents," Anas said.
The battle began and in a blink of an eye, Echo wrapped one of his red chains around his opponent and kill them. This scene left the trio in shock. Anas thought for a bit— quick movements, eye colour doesn't match his weapons. "He is a magic tool user!" Anas said.
"Magic tool users have no talent in magic because of a thing called "The Ancient Fever". It basically makes the person go back to before magic was a thing. However in return, they have inhuman strength and speed, they can be faster than lightning and create sonic booms from running," Anas explained.
"Guess that means I have to fight him in a hand to hand combat in the semifinals," Karasu said.
"And I have to fight him next round!" Nex exclaimed.
"Okay, limit his vision of you. I saw him lock on to his target before he fights. Once the battle starts, create walls to block him, though he might just break them, either way, you will be the test to see how strong his is," Anas said.
A few rounds go by and now it's Nex versus Echo. "On the left side, we have a newcomer that is surprisingly impressive. And on the right side, we have our champion, Echo!" The announcer shouted.
"You don't look like a dummy, so I won't hold back," Echo taunted.
"Go ahead, no matter what, I am beating you," Nex said, trying to mock him.
The battle started, Nex followed the plan and it worked. Echo was fast, but his chains were only breaking the bones one by one. Though, Nex couldn't land a single hit on Echo, even while limiting his movement options. Echo eventually broke through the wall by creating a sonic boom with his chains. He swung them like a lunatic, his movements were unpredictable. And so, in an attempt to end this, Nex used his magic form skulls to explode the battlefield, but Echo's durability was impressive and one of his chains cut off the bandage on Nex's chest.
Nex was now on a time limit, so in a last attempt, he attempted something. Suddenly, seven bone tentacles come out from his back, and seven dragon heads sprouted at the end of each tentacle, he shouted "Hydra!" And the heads shot beams of purple magic. Echo barely dodged a few and had to block by swinging his chains to cut the beams. Some of the heads even went in and tried to bite Echo, but Echo was just too fast for Nex and Echo got Nex in a chokehold.
"Haha! You are fun! Now surrender or die!" Echo told Nex and so, Nex surrendered.
"You are very impressive. You're the first person to force me to go all out. If you were just a bit faster, you actually could have won. What is your name newcomer? Echo asked. Nex introduced himself to Echo and this humored him.
"Nex? Very fitting name for you. I mean it means death and you use dead people," Echo said as he walked back into the tunnel.
"Well that was an impressive fight and you got your named attack. Now we know he is near our level since he went all out against Nex. So crow, you might win against him," Anas told Karasu.
After Anas defeated his opponent, it's now Karasu against Echo. After seeing Karasu face to face, Echo seemed off.
"You are powerful, aren't you? You look like you killed thousands of Cruels already. Tell me, what is your name?" Echo asked.
"You are asking for my name before the fight. Well if you wish to know, I am Karasu," Karasu said to Echo.
"So are you a bird?" Echo asked and Karasu decided to play along and nodded.
"Well, this will definitely be interesting, bird," Echo said as the fight began.
Karasu immediately created his scythe and shot blood slashes which Echo dodged.
"Oh I was right, this will be interesting," Echo said as his swung his chains.
Karasu stepped back and blocked them while creating blood moons since Anas said Echo's weakness was that he could only dodge or block long ranged attacks. Karasu even replicated Crimson Rain and Echo was on the backseat. Karasu then drank the jar of poison he had and coated the scythe blade with it. With so much pressure on him, Echo created a sonic boom to spray blood everywhere on the battlefield and block Karasu's slashes. This still left him with a few small injuries, but Echo didn't give a single fuck about it.
Ultimately, Echo decided to go berserk and swung his chains without rhythm and Karasu couldn't get close. No matter what Karasu did, he was pushed back from the rampage of attacks. Echo used most of his strength to finally break Karasu's armor and take the win. However, Karasu still got a slash on Echo and now he is poisoned.
"Well, that was fun!! I hope we can do this shit again!!" Echo said excited.
"If you want to get your ass kicked next time, then I am down for it," Karasu said mockingly.
"Oh please, if you wish to defeat me, train for another 100 years!" Echo said with pride.
It was now Anas against Echo. At first, Echo thought Anas was a weak kid, but after having a closer look at him, Echo hesitated.
"You are not normal... Something is up with you and I don't like that," Echo told Anas.
"Scared that you will lose or something?" Anas asked.
"Nah, I would still win, but you just feel suspicious," Echo said.
The bell rang and the final battle started. Before Echo could move an inch, spikes pierced his hands and the spikes also pinned his chains to the ground. Anas followed up with his buckshot and so Echo had no choice but to fight with his bare hands.
"So this was the feeling I got from you, what is your name?" Echo asked.
"I am Anas August Evander Ravenscroft Wisteria Blackwood, but you can just call me Anas," Anas said with a smug.
"So you're happy or joyful all the time?" Echo asked.
"Nope, I will definitely get mad," Anas replied.
"Then your name doesn't make sense. Maybe you should be called "Sometimes Anas"," Echo said.
And they continued their battle. Without his chains, Echo decided to use his hands to make sonic booms by clapping. However, when he tried to punch Anas, a wall of sapphire appeared and the impact hurt his hand a bit, though he left a giant crack on the wall.
Anas, wanting to end this as quickly as possible, used Megalodon and exploded it in front of Echo's face which almost killed him. Echo was still standing till the poison got to him. "Well this is the end for me, hahaha, I lost," Echo said, congratulating Anas.
"Well, if my friends didn't injure you or allowed me to understand your fighting patterns, I would have lost," Anas admitted to Echo.
"Still, a win is a win. As for your reward, you can ask me a to make a promise with you," Echo said.
"A promise?" Anas questioned.
"Don't worry, I will always keep my promises," Echo said.
"Uh, why do you do that?" Anas asked.
"Well, because nothing matters if your words mean nothing," Echo answered.
"Promise me that you will help us when we ask you to," Anas said.
"That will be easy. You know what? HEY EVERYONE, I am quitting the underground arena!!" Echo shouted, which shocked everyone.
"You can't just leave! You need to bring us money! You're the star of this show, you are staying!" The announcer shouted.
Echo pulled out his chains from the sapphire and with one swing, killed the announcer.
