The day after the tour around the kingdom, the trio and Rai met at the southern gate for Rai's first mission. This mission was much simpler than the trio's first one, it was to destroy a magnitude 1 camp at the edge of the forest. "This mission will take no time," Karasu exclaimed.
"Yes, but we still need a plan just in case. It will basically be our plan last time, but we now have Rai and her magic, so instead of Karasu shooting out blood orbs at the Cruels outside, it will be Rai this time," Anas explained.
"Now come on, let's go already," Nex told them.
Their journey was only a day because of the camp's location and it was time to raid it and the trio's first time seeing Rai's magic.
When they broke into the camp, Rai proved to be useful, her heatwave beams destroyed not only the Cruels, but also the surroundings. It barely took them any work to wreck the camp. "This was so amazing, Rai! You did great," Anas told her which made her blush a little.
"Now let's go back to the kingdom," Nex said.
"Not so fast, weaklings," a voice rang.
"Who is there? Show yourself!" Karasu yelled and then a figure in dark clothing came out from the shadows.
"Who are you?" Karasu asked.
"I am the eighth finger," the figure replied, this scared the living daylights out of Anas.
"Guys, this is the eighth strongest finger, only the top ten fingers get numbered," Anas said with a worrying look and everyone tensed up.
"Don't worry, I won't hurt any of you if you hand over Rai," the eighth finger said, this made Rai scared and she hugged anas's arm in fear.
"No, you would be crazy if you think we will hand her over," Karasu yelled with Nex ready to fight.
"Rai has a unique ability and the Cruels need it to be on our side, so if you won't hand her over willingly, then I will just have to fight you," the eighth finger said and its eyes glowed gray and it shot out stone bullets which were easily blocked by Nex's bone arms. Karasu jumped towards the finger with his scythe while shooting blood orbs, though the finger dodged him with ease, but a surprise shot from Anas did caught it off guard. Even up against a three versus one, the finger was holding up against the trio.
"Ugh, since you want it to be so difficult, then fine, I will come back for her next time," the finger said as it escaped.
"Are you okay, Rai?" Anas asked her, but she was still nervous and hugged his arm even tighter. Anas then carried her in his arms as he and the other two ran away from the camp, not wanting more Cruels to jump them.
After an hour of running, they stopped to rest for a while.
"Are you feeling better, Rai? The finger can't hurt you," Anas said to her, and Rai started to calm down.
"I don't want to be taken away by them, I want to be with you, Anas," Rai said with teary eyes.
"Don't worry, us three can handle them, you don't have to be scared," Anas gently told her while hugging her which made her blush a bit more than last time. They quickly exited the forest and Anas wrote a letter to principal Agnus about the encounter with the eighth finger.
After a few hours, principal Agnus received the letter from Anas, she quickly arranged a meeting with them and asked them to come to her office.
"So the eighth finger said something about Rai having an unique ability and the Cruels needed it for something. Well that doesn't make sense, even if they capture her, they can't forcefully use her ability," principal Agnus said.
"No, they are after my body. My scales are shootable which is not common, and the scales can just be easily ripped off to use for armor and weapons, then it will regrow and the cycle continues," Rai said while hugging Anas's arm.
After hearing this, they were all appalled at what they just heard.
"Alright, I will hire more guards for the school and I will ask Mr Blaze to be another bodyguard in case they try to raid the school," principal Agnus told them.
"I can't believe they would do this. If I see the eighth finger again, I will make sure it never sees the light of day," Karasu said with fury and Nex joining him.
"I will make a plan to kill it when we meet it again, it will not escape us," Anas said with determination.
"Well, there is one way to stop my scales from shooting out, but you won't like it," Rai said and they were all now curious.
"I need to have a child with someone so that my scales focus on protecting me and my child," Rai explained.
"But you're not an adult yet, how can you have a child with someone?" Nex asked.
"Well, we dragons have the body of an adult at twelve years old, so I can already have a child with someone," Rai said with embarrassment. However, the trio were still too young ,with the closest one to adulthood being Anas, so she will have to wait seven months before anything happens.
Back in the cruelty rings, "Hello boss, sorry I was unable to capture the dragon hybrid girl," the eighth finger said to a towering figure.
"It's fine, we don't need her yet, we just need to get her before she finds a husband. Prepare the troops, you will raid the Celestial Star Academy on the first day of school and capture her," the figure told it as the finger ran off to get the troops ready.
