The new rule didn’t appear on the screen.

It appeared in their bodies first.

A heaviness in the chest.

A slight distortion in timing.

Like reality itself had been rebalanced without permission.

Then the text arrived.

WIN CONDITION UPDATED

No explanation.

No parameters.

Just a single line that felt heavier than everything before it.

The third player smiled immediately.

“That’s more like it.”

Reiji didn’t react outwardly—but his eyes sharpened.

Daiki noticed it.

That was the first time Reiji didn’t have an immediate interpretation.

The system spoke again.

“Unit Seven will now operate under Win Condition Zero.”

A pause.

Then—

“Only one outcome is valid.”

The room went silent.

Even the other players stopped moving.

Because that sentence changed everything.

A player whispered:

“So… we can’t draw?”

Another snapped back:

“Obviously not. It’s Blue Lock.”

But this felt different.

Heavier.

More absolute.

Daiki slowly exhaled.

“This isn’t about scoring anymore.”

Reiji answered instantly.

“It never was.”

The third player laughed softly.

“Good. You’re catching up.”

He walked toward the center again.

No rush.

No tension.

Just inevitability.

“I’ll simplify it for you.”

A pause.

“Only one of you leaves this phase as ‘real’.”

Reiji stepped forward.

“You’re assuming you’re included in that equation.”

The third player tilted his head.

“I’m not assuming.”

A smile.

“I’m deciding.”

The air tightened.

Daiki moved slightly now—not forward, but sideways.

Creating space.

Not for attack.

For observation.

He was reading something deeper now.

The system wasn’t just reacting to players anymore.

It was reacting to dominance behavior patterns.

Reiji spoke low.

“This condition is not football anymore.”

Daiki replied immediately.

“It’s hierarchy compression.”

A pause.

Reiji glanced at him.

“…you’re learning too fast.”

Daiki didn’t respond.

Because his attention was elsewhere.

The third player.

He wasn’t increasing pressure anymore.

He was normalizing it.

Like the room was adjusting itself around his presence.

That was worse.

Reiji moved first.

This time faster than before.

Space control.

Immediate collapse of options.

Two players behind him froze—automatically excluded from the play.

But—

The third player didn’t respond to Reiji.

He responded to the intention behind Reiji’s movement.

He stepped once.

And Reiji stopped mid-flow.

Not physically.

Conceptually.

Daiki’s eyes widened slightly.

“He’s predicting structure formation…”

Reiji broke through the hesitation instantly.

But it cost him a fraction.

And in this system—

Fractions mattered.

The third player appeared beside the ball again.

Without “running” there.

He just… arrived.

“You two are interesting,” he said casually.

“But predictable in different ways.”

He looked at Reiji.

“You build certainty through geometry.”

Then Daiki.

“And you build certainty through adaptation.”

A pause.

“But both depend on reaction.”

The ball pulsed.

Slowly.

Like it was listening.

Then the third player placed his foot on it.

Not aggressively.

Just resting.

And instantly—

Everyone else froze.

Not forced.

Not stunned.

Just uncertain whether they were allowed to act.

Daiki felt it clearly.

“This isn’t pressure…”

He muttered.

“It’s permission control.”

Reiji moved again—

And the third player looked at him.

Reiji stopped instantly.

Not because he lost.

Because continuing felt like it might already be failure.

Silence.

The third player sighed.

“This is getting boring again.”

He looked at both of them.

“So I’ll end the hesitation phase.”

A pause.

Then—

He lifted his foot.

And tapped the ball forward.

Light.

Almost careless.

But the effect was immediate.

The room fractured again.

Except this time it wasn’t chaos.

It was separation.

Players began to drift into roles they didn’t choose.

Not assigned.

Not forced.

Just… selected by outcome probability.

A defender found himself automatically retreating.

A striker felt his body leaning forward.

A midfielder started adjusting spacing without thinking.

Daiki’s eyes widened.

“He’s not controlling us directly…”

Reiji finished it.

“He’s letting the system decide for him.”

The third player smiled faintly.

“Correct.”

Then he looked at them both.

“This is Win Condition Zero.”

A pause.

“I don’t win.”

“I let reality eliminate you.”

The air turned cold.

Even Reiji went silent for a moment.

Daiki stepped forward slightly.

“So what happens when reality splits?”

The third player looked at him.

Then smiled.

“Then you find out who was unnecessary first.”

The system reacted violently.

STRUCTURAL BREAK IMMINENT

UNIT SEVEN: COLLAPSE THREAT

The ball pulsed harder.

Faster.

Like it was panicking.

Reiji spoke quietly.

“This is no longer a test of skill.”

Daiki replied.

“It’s a test of existence priority.”

The third player clapped once again.

Slow.

Deliberate.

“Now you understand.”

Then he pointed at both of them.

“So tell me.”

A pause.

“Which one of you is less necessary?”

Silence.

For the first time—

Reiji didn’t answer immediately.

Daiki didn’t move.

Because they both realized something terrifying.

The system wasn’t asking who was stronger.

It was asking—

who could be removed without breaking reality.

And somewhere inside Unit Seven—

the answer was already forming.
