We Said We Were Friends
Series Summary
At Westbridge University, eight students from different faculties somehow end up becoming the campus’s most inseparable friend group.
They eat together, skip lectures together, fight loudly in public, and act like they’ll stay this close forever.
Everyone else envies them.
But friendships become dangerous when feelings start changing.
Aiden Vale, a second-year Fine Arts student, can’t stand Rowan Mercer — the cold, sharp-tongued Sports Science senior who always looks annoyed by his existence. Their conversations are mostly insults, sarcasm, and arguments that leave the rest of the group exhausted.
Rowan thinks Aiden is immature, reckless, and way too expressive.
Aiden thinks Rowan is emotionally constipated and impossible to read.
So naturally, they keep ending up beside each other anyway.
Between late-night convenience store runs, group projects, campus festivals, accidental jealousy, and moments that feel far too intimate for “just friends,” the line between hatred and attraction slowly begins to blur.
Meanwhile, the rest of the group is just as chaotic.
Luca Moretti, the dramatic architecture senior who flirts with everyone for fun, becomes strangely attached to Theo Bennett — an awkward first-year literature student who blushes every time Luca breathes near him.
Kai Adler documents the group’s disasters like it’s a reality show, while Elias Hart quietly watches over everyone from the background, pretending he isn’t soft for the loudest person in the room.
Vincent Hale acts like the unbothered older brother of the group, but notices every crack forming between his friends, while Noel Rivera understands everyone’s feelings a little too well… except his own.
What starts as a messy university friendship slowly turns into something heavier: unspoken love, silent loyalty, late-night confessions, and the terrifying realization that maybe they were never “just friends” to begin with.
Because the closer they become, the harder it gets to pretend nothing has changed.
