Aanya didn’t cry anymore.

Like she was breaking.

“I don’t care!” Aanya cried. “I’m not leaving you!”

Tears filled Meera’s eyes.

The darkness behind her began to move.

Watching.

“It’s always watching…” Meera whispered.

Aanya’s body went cold.

“Then we leave. Together.”

Meera shook her head.

“There is no leaving…”

Then—

Aanya’s voice hardened.

“There is.”

For the first time—

Meera looked at her with something real.

Hope.

“How?” she whispered.

Aanya didn’t answer.

Because she didn’t know.

But she stepped forward anyway.

“I’ll break it,” she said.

The moment those words left her mouth—

The world shifted.

The trapped figures turned.

All at once.

Their empty eyes locked onto her.

And then—

They spoke.

In one voice.

“You cannot break what you are becoming.”

Aanya’s heart dropped.

“No…”

The darkness behind Meera grew larger.

A shape forming inside it.

The artist.

Watching.

Smiling.

“You entered willingly,” the voice echoed.

Aanya stepped back slowly.

“Then I’ll leave willingly too,” she said.

A soft, chilling response:

“You cannot leave… without giving something in return.”

Aanya froze.

The rule.

Always the rule.

“A life… for a life…” she whispered.

The darkness pulsed.

“Yes.”

Aanya looked at Meera.

At the trapped souls.

At the endless prison.

She made a decision.

Her voice didn’t shake this time.

“Take me.”

Meera’s eyes widened in horror.

“No! Aanya, don’t—!”

But Aanya stepped forward.

“If a life is needed…” she said softly,

“then take mine.”

The darkness stopped.
