「豬欄邊」是客語，意思為「豬圈旁(邊)」。 


故事背景： 


屏東內埔，一個客家庄。賴傳生入贅鍾家，與妻鍾丁妹從養黑豬、賣豆花起家，育有三個兒子，跨越戰後臺灣的農業轉型與社會變遷。一個關於勞動、親情、土地記憶的故事。 


「賴傳生」取「傳世耕讀留典範，生根內埔勤作苦」開頭二字。 


「鍾丁妹」在客語中帶有希望添丁的意思。「丁妹」，意為希望生個男孩。


整部小說將以客語方式書寫，希望能藉此呈現真實的客庄生活。
