I swung my backpack around my shoulder and pulled my maroon hoodie over my russet, dysfunctional hair, trying my very best to avoid physical contact with any other soul. I felt my eyes becoming heavier each second, my shoulders drooping towards the ground at every second. Only gravity doing its wonderful job.
As I turned the corner to leave the campus, a sudden force grabbed and flung me towards the brick wall, most probably bruising and cutting both of my shoulder blades. I opened one eye, attempting to solve the puzzle piece of a figure.
It was a boy. His foggy, blue eyes were steaming with rage, his canines growling towards my very existence. His dark hair spilled over helplessly over his right eye as a few seconds passed. I manipulated these few seconds to get up and try to escape. I couldn't possibly deal with another fight. My energy has been depleted and willpower at its brink. I needed rest from the last brawl as well. I couldn't be overwhelmed ever again. Not again.
I coughed and tasted blood at the roof my mouth. I glared at the inhumane high school, insecure boy.
"Look, I don't want to fight. No, let me rephrase that. I won't fight. What do you want?"
He paused.
"... Bring her back."
I raised an eyebrow sharply. My heart rate increasing by 300 beats per second by then.
"Bring... who back? I don't know what you're talking about."
"I know your little secret. Bring my little sister back... She left... too early..."
"Wait--"
"NO! I HAve to.... I hAVE TO GET HER BACK! Somehow, I'll do anything! I swear! Just bring Elena back, please. PLEASE!"
I let go of my side. The bleeding didn't seem to happen at that moment. His fiery, blue eyes subsided, and the sadness and regret took over, blinding his view. And it worried me.
"... I don't know how you found out, but I need to establish something...?"
"Aidan."

Frankly, I could. But I did try. And it was not a pleasant experience. My body caved in, my mental state collapsing. And I blanked out, unable to see what the soul that had entered my body was doing. I couldn't do that ever again, I told myself for the past three years. It would only hurt me and people around me. And that's not what superheroines do, now don't they?
"... Aidan. I did try. But I almost died, and so will you."
"BUT--"
"JUST LISTEN!! Can you see undead souls, Aidan??!! Because I'm sure you can't. Don't expect your sister to come back intact, just the way she was before. She won't. She'll either end up like a zombie or an invisible soul roaming aimlessly, with no memory of her past. She would go right past you without you knowing. And I can't do that to you, despite the fact that I don't even know you that well. So please... just stop... I beg of you..."
My head was twisting and turning in all directions, my eyesight slowly failing. I needed sleep and rest. A day off from school as well. I needed it.
I blinked hard and stared at Aidan. His expression was blank. Neutral. Lifeless. This boy, who I had just met about five minutes ago received a hug from this supernatural, 17-year-old, and tired girl that barely gives out eye contact to others. My shoulders began to have small droplets of tears, and soon a full lake. His head had to make a full 90 degrees to even touch mine, but I guess it still worked. There was a silence.
And before he left the corner, where he came from, he turned back and said, "I think you saved me today. I didn't plan on coming back to school tomorrow, so thanks. See you sometime at lunch?"
"Of course. I'll look forward to it." I smiled without teeth.

I jumped onto my bed, back first. I eyeballed the ceiling, hearing Mom chop carrots or onions. Aidan's words kept replaying within my mind, over and over and over again. I saved him from taking his own life. I was lost. I never even summoned a single soul to solve any sort of conflict, yet I somehow became a hero to him.
It was fascinating, but gawking over myself had to be pushed to another day. First, some shut eye.
