奇幻類型小說，這個故事發生在一個魔法與科技共存的架空世界。

在這個名為「始」的世界，人們都是靠着「刻」來定義一個人的能力，財富和地位。而千刻者更是局部更改世界的規則，甚至是宣判別人的生死。

而男主角是個屬於世界的另類異類，天生看不見別人的數值「刻」。而同樣的，其他人也無法感知他的「刻」。

他生活在一個偏僻的小鎮上，卻發現身邊的人似乎很倚賴「刻」帶來的能力，只有他發現不對勁。他打算尋找「刻」是因何為存在，而踏上了尋找何為「刻」並作為他信念的路途。


一般人的數值上限都是「60刻」，擁有「200刻」的人已經是擁有超乎常人的體格。

當到達「1000刻」就是世界頂尖的那0.1%的人們，可以說支配和分配着世界資源的頂尖人物。
