Letters from Sadu is more than just a photo series — it’s an emotional archive of love, distance, memory, and connection. Created by Bangladeshi photographer Oviul Maruf, the project captures the deep personal bond between the artist and his muse, Sadia — affectionately known as “Sadu.” What began as real handwritten letters between two young souls evolved into a poetic visual story, filled with emotional depth, abstract expressions, and elements of nature and nostalgia.
Shot using minimal tools but maximum heart, the project reflects Maruf’s signature style — blending soft natural light, long exposures, handwritten words, and color tones that evoke longing and youth. Through this series, Maruf explores the themes of separation, emotional growth, first love, and the beauty of vulnerable communication. Each image in Letters from Sadu is paired with written fragments — real notes and thoughts inspired by the moments shared between the two.
The project has been praised for its authenticity and heartwarming storytelling. It’s featured in his Google Sites portfolio and has helped Maruf gain a growing audience on platforms like ArtPal, Collecteurs, YouPic, and Behance. With this deeply personal body of work, Oviul Maruf not only shares a part of his soul — he gives young artists and viewers a new way to feel photography.
Letters from Sadu is not just a love story. It's a living memory — frozen in time, frame by frame.
