特徵：頭上有一條尖刺，眼睛相對頭部大小，比例相當之大。那對眼睛其實與昆蟲一樣，是一對複眼，再加上後面有眼柄相連，是使視線範圍變大。頭部有明顯的額角，有一定長度。擁有10對腳，5對步足以及5對泳足。身體上有鮮明的紫色橫紋，所以又稱為紫節蝦。尾巴上有堅硬的薄膜，呈白色，似乎有助它們潛伏。
習性：會使用頭上額角儲存少量食物，由於其主食為茄子，因此他們會把茄子串在頭上。有單獨潛伏習性，平常會潛伏在衣物等雜物之下。可是，他們對音樂尤其喜好，聽到輕快的音樂時會出現，並隨著音樂起舞。棲息地為街頭環境及街市。

It has 10 pairs of legs, 5 pairs of walking legs, and 5 pairs of swimming legs. The body has distinct purple stripes, hence the name Purple Stripe Shrimp. They have a thin but strong layer on their tail, the structure may help them in lurking.
Habits: They use the frontal horns on their heads to store a small amount of food. As their main food is eggplant, they string eggplant on their heads. They have a solitary lurking habit and usually lurk under clothing or other debris. However, they particularly enjoy music; when they hear lively music, they appear and dance to the rhythm. They inhabit urban streets and wet markets.
