I tried a new coffee shop today. They had this chalkboard menu with the messiest handwriting I’ve ever seen. It took me a good five minutes to decipher what they were offering. I eventually spotted “Ethiopian Yirgacheffe – Light Roast,” a bit hidden under the list of blends and lattes, almost as if it were a secret meant for those who knew what to look for.
It didn’t disappoint. The coffee was delicate, bright, and citrusy acidity with subtle floral undertones, and just a hint of stone fruit sweetness rounding it out. I sat at the bar, watching the barista work his handpour.
The shop itself had a charm that felt a little messy, a little imperfect, but full of character. I think you'd appreciate that x)
I saw the barista do a quirky little design on a latte, I think it looked like a wobbly sun. I’m not sure if it was intentional or if they were just experimenting. If they see what I’m writing right now, maybe I’ll ask them hahaha
I thought about you as I sat here. Maybe next time, I’ll take you with me. Though, knowing you, you’d probably make a joke about how long it took me to figure out the menu. And I’d laugh because you’d be right.
