We woke up with the first light of morning, and the beauty of the lush nature and dewdrops had enchanted me. After a quick breakfast, we hit the road. After driving for about two hours, we entered a dense, dark forest that looked quite eerie. Who would want to live in a place like this? Alvin and Luna were scanning the area as if searching for something.
V: Can you tell me exactly what we're looking for?
Al: Uh, a door?
L: That's precisely what we're looking for. When we find where it's hidden, we can enter.
V: Ah, so we're looking for a hidden door.
Af: What does this thing look like?
Al & L: A fox head! they exclaim
Af: Right, what else could it be? complains
V: If it were a fox head, shouldn't we have seen it by now?
L: That's the issue, V. We're looking for the entrance to a hidden door, and it's also shaped like a fox head.
V: I think I found it; come over here.
Al: Yes, that's it! Good job, V.
I pressed on the fox head carved into a tree, and the barrier that appeared to be a forest in front of us split in two. It could be considered an energy shield, and its merging and closing behind us supported the idea that it was made of energy. There stood a large, beautiful treehouse, designed like a dream. I was truly amazed by the intricate design and engineering. We climbed up to the door, and Alvin knocked on it, then took a step back.
Digital Voice: Where is the rabbit hole?
Al: In the forest?
Digital Voice: Incorrect password. Two remaining attempts.
L: Let me try. In the hollow?
Digital Voice: Incorrect password. One remaining attempt.
Af: Why would you set up such a stupid system?
V: Our last chance. Wait without saying anything foolish.
Al: Do you want to give it a shot, brainiac?
V: Haha, move aside and watch. (She says the first thing that comes to mind.) Alice in Wonderland?
Digital Voice: System validated. The door is opening. Welcome, Mighty Merlin...
V: I guess I'm a genius, Alvin.
Al: Oh, shit, here we go again.
Af: You're a megalomaniac, and he even made a door that compliments himself.
Al: I'm more upset that he came up with this idea before me.
L: We are definitely not having such nonsense in our home.
Al: Oh, we absolutely are.
As we entered, a large hall welcomed us, with a grand staircase leading up to what looked like a massive library, complete with a railing and a fireplace below.
We were greeted with a magnificent place, something that could only exist in dreams. We moved forward and climbed the stairs, and there was a long-haired, tall figure with light brown hair and blue eyes descending; this must be Merlin.
M: I heard what you said, you wolfish rascal.
Af: Watch your words, wizard boy.
M: I can't believe I got scared. What are you going to do, seal me in a cellar?
Af: Shut up, you! throws a punch
Right when Alpha was about to punch him, Merlin suddenly turned into dust and reappeared behind us.
M: I thought you could fight better than that.
Af: Enough, but seriously! gets angry
Al: Hey, stop, guys! We didn't come here for a fight.
L: He's right, we're here for Violet, snap out of it.
V: So, you're Merlin.
M: You're that girl with the two idiots' heads obsessed with you.
Al: Be easy on him, Merlin.
M: I was just kidding, buddy.
Al: No problem, partner, but what do you have to eat for a nice guest?
M: How about a bone? laughs
Al: Haha, those are my jokes.
If they had explained to me why I shouldn't trust him so much, maybe I wouldn't feel such sympathy for him, but he didn't seem dangerous at all. On the contrary, he was funny, intelligent, and extremely handsome. The table was filled with all kinds of dishes; it was a feast. Everyone found their seats and started eating. It was delicious, and I could easily get used to this.
Al: Hey, wolf-boy, can you pass the salt? grins
Af: You're itching too much, Alvin, should I call you a chicken instead? everyone at the table laughs
Al: Haha, Alpha, how funny, just what I'd expect from you. Great performance!
M: Why do you say that, Alvin? I think he's doing a decent job, considering his age.
Af: Shut up, wizard boy.
V: Wizard? smirks
L: Yes, you should have understood that from his disappearing act earlier.
V: I thought he was a hologram, to be honest.Suddenly,
he teleported behind me, placing his hand on my chin, gently tilting my head upward.
M: Can a hologram do this?
V: W-well, no.
Then, he teleported back.
M: Good, so you can distinguish between a hologram and the real thing. Now, which genius among you cracked my code?
L: Well, actually, Alvin and I made some logical attempts, but it was Violet who solved the equation.
M: It was you, then.
V: Why are you so surprised?
M: When I designed that algorithm, I intentionally made it in a way that foxes could solve it.
Al: Buddy, you should give us the code.
V: How can a program know me?
L: We have our own technology.
Af: And when you use that technology on guys like Victor, strange things happen.
M: Joking aside, he's quite right, but if you want, I can show you my secret later.
V: Of course, I'd be delighted
M: Well, let me show you to your rooms now. You must be tired, and you, Violet, have a training day tomorrow. A good night's sleep will help, and if you prefer, you can also sleep with me smirks.
Af: Ease up, wizard boy. You should stay away from her, or she'll bite you.
M: Hey, calm down, old wolf. I won't harm her.
L: I'll stay with Alvin tonight. Thanks to all of you, last night we had separate rooms.
Al: Yeah, they always separate us hugs Luna.
Af: You guys act like we did it on purpose. Now, go to bed. Tomorrow will be exhausting.
L&Al: Goodnight to you all. Let's not bite each other, please.
M: They're just kidding, right, old wolf?
Af: Of course, don't mind them. I'm going to bed.
M: Alright, you're the only one left. Follow me.
V: Where are we going?
M: I don't want to give you a room on this floor; I want you close to me. You can stay in the room right next to mine.
V: Why this sudden interest in me?
M: I'm trying to protect you; Victor is after you.
V: Alright then.
He led me to the room next to his bedroom.
M: If you need anything, just knock on the wall or read my thoughts. I always keep my mind clear for communication, and I'll hear you.
V: Thank you for everything.
M: Get some rest; tomorrow will be a tough training day.
V: Good night, Merlin.
M: Good night, my little fox.
"Little fox?" The phrase had touched me in a way I couldn't explain. Despite Luna's warnings and the inner turmoil, I felt there was a connection between us. I wasn't sure how much to trust, but I would find out tomorrow; there was always a way to test it. I closed my eyes, overwhelmed by fatigue, and drifted into sleep.
