Have you ever found yourself lost in the midst of daydreams, imagining yourself turning into a mythological creature? What about witnessing your dreams becoming eerily close to reality?
I began my day with these questions because I found myself in a fictional narrative where reality and imagination blurred together seamlessly. Luna had woken me up and insisted I have a quick breakfast. I washed my face and headed downstairs, where Alpha and Alvin had already arrived. When our eyes met, I shot them an angry look and changed my direction, heading for the living room. They must have understood the situation because they followed me. Both of them were nervously rubbing their hands together, sitting tensely in front of me. They attempted to start a conversation, but not a single word came out of their mouths. Finally, I decided to break the silence with a question.
V: So, how difficult was it for you two to hide this from me? Care to explain?
Af: Actually, I could explain everything from the beginning if you allow me, V.
Al: Alright, let's get started. smirks It all began with your five-minute life story.
Af: You're playing the role of a monkey in places where you should be a wolf. Show some magic, Al.
L: I've already told her everything she needed to know.
V: So, why did you keep it a secret from me?
Al: Luna told me everything, even the theoretical stuff.
Af & V & Al: Luna!!! They all yell.
L: I didn't want her to get more frightened or influenced. Why are you mad?
Al: That's a good idea, but didn't you think that revealing the truth might put her in more danger?
Af: He's right; even a tiny mistake could make it easier for Victor to approach us.
V: What do you mean?
Al: I mean, Violet, there are no secrets, you need to know everything.
L: He's right.
V: Is there anything else I need to know?
Af: We'll fill in the gaps as you ask questions. Now, let's hit the road before it's too late.
L: We're ready; how about you?
Al: Uh, um, a bathroom break?
Af: Our path leads through the forest.
L: Is that a kind of animal, Alpha?
V: Isn't he a chicken?
Al: What's with the chicken now? gets annoyed
L: Calm down, champ. I'll tell you when we're alone. flirts with Alvin
Al: I'm good to go; let's get moving.
Af & V: You guys are disgusting.
After this lovely conversation, we hit the road. I looked around, realizing that Luna hadn't brought a car, and I couldn't see any vehicles with the guys. How had they even gotten here without a car? I couldn't resist asking.
V: How exactly are we going to travel? Can you enlighten me?
L: Do you want to fly?
Af: No, I think off-roading would be fun.
V: Can we really do that? asks excitedly
Al: Sure, we can even use our private jet if you want, Violet.
L: Don't bother with him, Alvin; he's confused. smiles
V: Come on, guys, be serious.
Al: Hakuna Matata, it's a beautiful thing.
Af: You'll never grow up, will you?
Al: Never, pal.
L: Joking aside, V can't transform, so let me take her, and you guys can follow us in the air.
Af: That makes sense; it's a logical plan.
After saying that and exchanging glances, two dogs and a half-chicken (or griffin?) were suddenly in front of me. I was still trying to adjust; we don't encounter mythological creatures every day. Knowing that I was one of them added an extra layer of complexity to the situation.
V: I can't believe what I'm seeing, guys.
L: Is there a problem, V? Is it because of my wings? asks anxiously
V: Yes, you silly chicken.
Al: Chicken? Was it really a chicken? laughs
L: Haha, very funny, Alvin.
Al: Hey, that was mean. gives an innocent look, chuckles
Af: Stop bickering, let's get Luna and Violet and hit the road before it gets too late.
Luna carried me on her back, and we set off. I had lived in this area for so many years, but I had never seen these forests before, or encountered these types of trees. Sometimes, we passed through places Luna guided me through like a tour guide, showing me places I had never discovered before. I was told to prepare myself through mental exercises. It started with emptying my mind by repeating a specific object in my head. I lay down on my back, closed my eyes, and felt the sounds of the wind, the branches colliding, and leaves falling filling my ears.
After a while, I was so immersed that the sounds of footsteps from running rabbits, flapping wings of birds, and even Luna's heartbeat had joined in. My sensitivity seemed to be increasing every day, and I was soon going to discover my powers, or rather, uncover the powers that already existed within me. I felt a strange excitement building up inside me. My head was starting to ache from overthinking, but its sudden disappearance was oddly soothing; it was like I had acknowledged the pain and it vanished. Luna was descending gradually, and we were approaching a forested stream. Night had fallen, and the cold was setting in. We landed, and Alvin and Alpha had already lit a fire and set up a tent. It seemed like we hadn't arrived yet or maybe we were being followed.
Af: Why are you so late?
L: Late? When did you guys arrive?
Al: It's been about half an hour.
L: We were coming from behind.
V: Did something happen? Why did we stop here?
Al: We need to perform a fire dance to invigorate the spirits, V.
L: Don't bother with him, Alvin; his mind is all over the place.
V: Alright, but we haven't told her the most basic information.
Al: Dunkoff.
V: Seriously? Is this one of Alvi's jokes?
Al: Hey, I don't have a finger now, but I wish I did! How did I miss this one? laughs
V: Haha, you're so funny.
L: Come on, Alvin, let's call it a night.
Al: Oh, the moon's daughter is making a beautiful proposal; this doesn't happen every day. laughs
L: Come on, Romeo. grabs him by the collar and leads him into the tent
A: So, V, are you getting used to it?
V: If you can hear my thoughts, why are you asking?
A: We can't always hear them; it depends on whether you choose to communicate or not.
V: Tell me more.
A: What would you like me to explain?
V: I want to know everything, about this universe, what I am, what's happening.
A: You're right, but we don't need to rush. Let's start with something simple, shall we?
V: Sure, go ahead.
A: The most important thing you need to know is that no one from the Ryu tribe can talk to anyone else, be friends, or have any kind of relationship with them.
V: Why?
A: They're spirits that the Heiliants have banned, and they don't do any good to anyone, except for one. I trust her because she saved my life. She also has a daughter.
V: Who is she?
A: Her name is Raya, but we can talk about this later, okay?
V: Okay. curious and hesitant
A: What's on your mind?
V: What about Merlin? Can you tell me about him? I'm going to meet him tomorrow, and I don't know anything about him.
A: You're right. Let me explain. He's a fox like you, a magician. I don't want you to trust him too much or get too close to him; there's a specific reason I'm not comfortable with you being near him. But for now, our only option is to go to him.
V: Is he a bad person? Will he harm me?
A: As long as I exist, I'll protect you, just like I do with my sister. So, don't worry; he can't harm you.
V: Thank you.
A: You're welcome. Now, let's get some sleep; it's too late. We should let the lovebirds have their night without us.
V: I agree; I'll take care of it now.
We extinguished the fire and got Luna ready. Alvin and Alpha had already set up the tent. Even though we often argued, we knew they loved us all deeply. I was exhausted from everything that had happened in the past few days, and I was overwhelmed. On top of everything, I now had to deal with Merlin. I had a strong prejudice against him, which I would only overcome when I met him face to face.
