That night, I told Haylynn about the shadow flamingo figure I saw. She told me we’d sneak out at midnight and go see the flamingos. I was thrilled beyond what words could express. When it was time, Haylynn and I changed out of our pajamas. I put on my flamingo swimsuit, and Haylynn wore her black and red scuba suit. I almost forgot to wear my flamingo crown. I was just about sure they’d consider me Queen Scottie.
We tip-toed out of the hotel. When we escaped, we dashed to the beach. We dove into the water and swam. “Are you sure it was a flamingo?” Haylynn asked, doubtfully.
“Yes, I’m sure. If it wasn’t, we’re goners,” I replied.
After what felt like hours, we made it to where I saw the shadow. I saw a colony of flamingos. The water shallowed out, and I walked closer to the flamingos. I ran my hand over one’s back. His feathers were smooth, and soft. He turned and stared. Haylynn pounced, and looked like she was ready to fight him. I rolled my eyes and spoke. “Hello, sir. I am Scottlynn, and I love flamingos like you. Please, can I see the rest of your family?” The flamingo walked closer to me, and rubbed his head on my chest. “I shall call you Albert. Do you like that?” I asked him. He walked to the right, and bowed. He allowed me to see his family! I walked past, naming every flamingo who touched me. I named nine of them; Beaky, Nibbles, Alvin, Pink, Spicy, Frankie, Bob, Poppy, and Einstein. I turned around and saw Haylynn cooing and feeding a flamingo chick. Before I could say anything to her, Albert and Poppy guided me towards a large stone. It looked like a throne! I’d be queen! I climbed up the rather steep stone, and sat down. It was a high throne, and I only imagined how I looked on it.
The flamingos brought me gifts of shrimp, that I smiled and returned to them. I was totally not a seafood person, and uncooked would probably taste worse. Haylynn didn’t seem to pay attention to me. I don’t think she even noticed me sitting on my throne. She was way too engrossed with the baby chick. After a while, I decided to meet the flamingo chick. And boy, I am glad I did.
