It stood right behind him.  The father felt something was watching him which something is watching him. The father looked back and saw the gator. He didn't scream but he did run. He unknowingly dropped the gun and started running. He stopped in the river when he noticed more gators in the river came after him. He turned back and saw the gator that came after him.
