"OK, who's turn is it to spin it?" asked my best friend, Loren.
"Mine!" shouted my crush, Issac.
I prayed with my fingers crossed it would be me. Please, please, please... I shut my eyes and waited for someone to call my name.
"Ohhh!!!" shouted my friend, Ethan.
"Myra and Issac sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!!" sang my frenemy, Kate.
"Shut up, Kate!!" Issac shouted. "Myra."
I opened my eyes. "Yes?" I was 100% red as a tomato. Hopefully something prettier, like an apple. You get it. I was blushing.
"We gonna do this?" he asked. He was smiling. Why was he smiling?! Was he actually happy he got to kiss me?! Could I actually end up having a good time with this?!
We got up and walked behind the big tree in Loren's backyard. My heart was pounding.
"We're not actually going to... y'know... kiss, right?" I asked. "Like, we're just gonna pretend like everyone else does?"
"Nah..." He stepped a little closer to me. "I actually want to kiss you."
My heartbeat was beating so hard that it nearly killed me. "Me? Why? I'm ugly and stupid... Why would you want to kiss me?"
"You're not ugly or stupid. You're amazing, and that's why I really like you."
That was the sweetest thing anyone had ever said to me, and frankly the most romantic.
"So... are we gonna?" I said.
"Yeah, if you want to."
I leaned over slowly and kissed him. Oh, it was better than I had ever imagined! I could hear the fireworks exploding in my head. It felt so magical.
I could barely sleep that night, but it was worth it.
