I didn’t understand

What broken meant until the

Day came where I had

To question everything.

The day where I

Had to choke back tears

In public.

The day where I felt the

World shredding up

And disappearing all around me.

Now I know what broken means.

I know that it feels like

You’re drowning when you breathe.

I know that it feels like

Living is a death sentence

Because the heartache is too strong.

Broken things are not

Always repairable.

Tears leak through no matter

How much you try to block them.

Gunshots resonate in

Every heartbeat.

I didn’t understand

What broken meant.

But now I do.​
