Finally got around to reading this, since you mentioning it from our past convo. Very well-written. Hope you get around to doing more because I'm immensely curious!
Thank you! This however is currently and SLOWLY being worked into a screenplay. I just wanted to share this one prologue piece to see what people think of it. The film may be done in 2 years or less I hope when I find the right people to help me put it together.
Love this. Love this. Love love LOVE this!!!!!! Oh my goodness, this is just so fabulous!! Little Cayo, I just want to take him home and feed him, precious baby. He is too sweet!!!! I don't know if that was your goal with the character, but reading about this fella, I went right into mom mode. This is such an imaginative yet simple concept. And your voice for him is so keenly apparent. I cannot wait for more!!!!
This feels so great coming from you! Thank you so much. Although I think you feel that way because I think he said his "planet has revolved around its star for 11 years". In my character notes though while there aren't much information on the alien,
*SPOILER* he'll note that his planet revolves twice longer than Earth. Which would make him technically 22. And the body he inhabited was that of a 22 year old man. But still he's so innocent that he probably has the comprehension of a 5-11 year old human trying to learn things and being in awe of everything.
So it's a great feeling to know that you got his innocent voice from how he was written. I'm feeling a lot of pressure from the great reception this story had. We all just have to wait until it becomes a full screenplay. Or maybe I should continue it as a novel? Ahh.
@Alef Magnus, Aw!! I'm so glad my comment made you feel good about this! Its a fabulous premise, I hope you continue it! Don't feel stress, just enjoy it. Work on it when you feel like it. I sincerely hope you do!
And I would have gone into mom mode with or without knowing his age. My maternal instinct has always been on high alert, even before I had my daughter. Regardless of age, if I think someone needs to be mommmed....they will be mommmed....whether they like it or not (:
I couldn't help but see your interaction guys, the first step is an agent, but the first first step is having a finished product that you're proud of. If one agent turns you down, go to another and stay DETERMINED. @Alef Magnus. you have a talent I don't when it comes to Sci-Fi, you don't worry too much about the science and care about the story far more than getting some snappy piece of plausible tech to attract people. Your story is so human and organic and in the same way it is alien in a way I find refreshing. You story is relatable, and has such a good soul. I'm honestly a little jealous, but not in a angry sort of way, in a healthy "This is so good how come I didn't do it first" kind of way that makes me laugh. Keep up the good work and if you ever need help editing or research done, I'm your guy.
Yes! Exactly, you just need to do it first and come up with a product. It's pretty much like writing novels. You should have a piece you can present to anyone interested. @Andrew Knight
@ViridianMind Thank you so much, your words are driving me to continue this screenplay which was stalled on the second half of this year. This piece is really close to me as it was born out of the depression I went through years back. That made me want to look at life at an outsider's perspective. That's how the alien idea came to me. I wanted to know what being human really is when it is already clouded by your experiences good or bad. I'll definitely ask for your help as I go along with this screenplay next year, 2016.
@Alef Magnus, That is a really inspiring idea, I've dealt with mental illness as well, and that, in a way, is where GenePunk comes from. From the duality of my moods, the madness of it all, the desire for knowledge and wondering what it means to be human as a whole. Of course I will help you, I would be honored to have a hand in something like this. It reminds me a bit of Hitchhikers Guide, a bit of John Scalzi. Its very unique.
Awesome already, and it's just the prologue! I could Imagine a shot of earth peacefully spinning in silence while this begins as a monologue, and subsequent images of sublime scenes (a dad pushing a little girl on a swing, a pair of lovers holding hands on a park bench, and old man skipping stones on the beach) as the monologue continues. Awesome work, I can't wait to see more!
Thank you so much! I really treat this one as my baby and I'm very careful with it word for word. You might need to wait until it's already a film. Maybe soon. #Roadto2017jk And yes you got that one montage scene! Coming from you it's a great honor that you liked it at once!
@Andrew Knight, Like you I have no idea how those things work. I recently went to the premiere of my friend's film (it won several awards overseas) and he was the director. The job was just assigned to him perhaps. Anyway, as indie filmmakers do... you just do it and produce it on your own! You can ask for funding from friends or family or get sponsors. Sometimes, it's really all about connections. But as my filmmaking idols did it, they just went ahead and did it themselves. Passed it to a festival and with luck they got attention. Distributors contacted them and then... success.
@Alef Magnus, awesome! I was just curious because my oldest friend is in film school and doing side projects right now, he's always looking for writing talent and he's a great guy. Let me know if you'd ever be interested in networking
@Andrew Knight, wow that would be very great man. Although, I'm probably so far from you geographically. (I mean distance isn't that much of a problem anymore but still) I'd shoot you a personal message about it. It would be great if you can share your friend's films if they're online.
