Yeah, I'm like an extreme introvert. If I don't get time alone, I start flipping out. Thankfully, my son goes to sleep when my wife does, so that gives me a couple of hours, not to mention I get a LOT of alone time at work. I don't know how extroverts do it. I really don't.
Your situation sounds hellish. I like family outings when it's with the right family members, but to be unable to get alone time would be a nightmare to me.
@Mira, We introverts get no understanding or sympathy. Extroverts want us to respect their desire to socialize, yet they can't respect our need to be alone to recharge.
@Mira, It's kind of the same for my families as well. My side of the family are all pretty much introverts, whereas my wife's side of the family are - for the most part - all extroverts. We have our battles every now and again over it.
@Jay Ellis, ahhh you get it then. Sometimes we need some time alone its annoying when people dont seem to get that. Its caused a bunch of issues with my mom and grandmother
@Mira, It shows a lack of trying to understand the other person. We don't want to be alone because we dislike anybody or are annoyed at a person personally. We just get socially exhausted way quicker, and it can become overwhelming to continue said socializing without a break.
@Mira, On another note (seeming we're ranting here anyway), one of the other ways I get annoyed with extroverts is when they think they can change us. Instead of getting their socializing from another extrovert, they target us specifically because they think they're somehow the magic person who can transform us into an extrovert like them by forcing us to socialize more.
It's been scientifically proven that whether we're introverts or extroverts is completely genetic. Sure we can adapt elements of the other (introvert with extroverted tendencies or vice versa), but we can't really change how we genetically are.
@Jay Ellis, OMFG YES! I don't understand why they think that or how they think they will. It's plain ass stupid. It's better not to interact with those people smh.
Ohhh I wasn't aware of that but yeahhh you really can't change genes.
(sorry for replying so late I was gonna reply on my laptop but then I was dragged away and like stuff happened)
