OK i listened to more of it, and… NICOLAE’S. VOICE. OH MY GOODNESS. It is so fitting and kinda cracks me up at the same time. IDK what it is about it! (Also, his words at the end of the audio gave me chills.) You definitely voice your characters spot on. Man, I wanna narrate my own story now XD
It's a lot of work, but it is so satisfying. Happy to hear you liked my voice for Nicolae. I was determined to do his voice justice. He's a favorite of mine. :)
@Esfandiar C. Hale, Wouldn't that be the dream? I actually tried being a YouTuber once, but my hectic schedule just wasn't a right fit for it. Maybe one day...
Listened to a bit of the audio version of TBW, and I gotta say, you're pretty good with narrating (never knew you could add radio sound effects to audiobooks; it adds a nice touch.)
I feel like you're the one person in class who could actually read out loud without stammering every five seconds lol
Thanks Cheeto. You can do a lot of stuff to audio actually. Half of the fun of this was the sound design. I was out in the woods recording snowfall, taking a quiet pop sound of a bolt-action rifle, and turning it into a powerful shot that echoes in a circular motion around your head; I was in my parents closet with an actual rifle making foley sounds, and also hopping in the back of my dad's truck with a duffel bag. It's so much fun... but it's also super time consuming and difficult.
Thanks for checking a portion of it out. Let me know if you listen to the rest of it. :)
@Jay Ellis, oh i didn't know you actually did all those stuff! I thought it was the sound effects you can find pre-recorded. Love the originality! It sounds fun and exhausting at the same time!
@Esfandiar C. Hale, There are points where I do have to rely on pre-recorded sound effects due to it just not being physically plausible for me to record it myself. This usually includes gunshots and vehicle sounds (I don't own a military transport truck). However, in these circumstances, I always try to add my own flare to the sounds.
A great example is at the start of scene 2 where you're hearing the inside of the truck as Levon is driving. I could have found and bought an interior driving sound if I wanted to be lazy, but I decided to use layering and 3d audio effects to create my own. I took the exterior sound of a military transport truck and applied 3d positioning, occlusion, and a car interior reverb effect to it. I then found and layered a recorded sound of a car's interior that had lots of items rattling about as well as a parking brake and key turning ignition sound. It was a lot of fun designing that.
@Jay Ellis, Oh so you recorded the sounds of the exterior of the truck and then u did some sound effect shit and made it sound like it was on the inside of the truck. Damn, that's so cool!!
@Esfandiar C. Hale, Thanks, although I did have to use a pre-recorded sound effect of the exterior. Like I said, I don't own a military transport truck, and sadly, no one I know owns a big, diesel truck either. So, I can't take all of the credit.
