"Suite" is pronounced sweet and is a fancy room. Suit is pronounced like the article of clothing and the spelling you mean.
Also slicing the palm of your hand is an incredibly bad idea medicially. Lots of tiny muscles and tendons, doing it even slightly wrong could mean complete loss of motion in the hand. Doesnt necessarily mean you have to be rid of the tradition, but maybe add a remark about this earth goddess stealing the motion of their very fingers if in fact they lie?
And ah, I gotcha. I probably meant to type suit and my brain just derped and added the e on the end.
The hand slicing part was a tad too dramatic for my tastes looking back now, and is a part I'll either edit out, or perhaps change the nature of the oath a tad. But I do like the idea of the goddess stealing the motion of their hand should they lie.
Overall I just want to thank you so much for all the feedback you've given me thus far, and its so wonderful to hear that you're enjoying the story. I honestly haven't touched it since Nanowrimo because I'm trying to recuperate after busting out all of this story in that 30 day timeframe. So there's a lot I have to go back and edit which I'll be doing as I work to finish up this story.
