It was like one of those stories.

the ones about those moments,

where eyes connect across a distance

or words are exchanged and looks are shared.

Somehow together even though miles apart,

when you deny the obvious and sink deeper.

It was like one of those songs.

The ones about the beautiful hurt,

the type you almost think you could withstand

but subconsciously know you can't.

The love sometimes given, sometimes not,

the doubts, the questions, the thoughts.

That's what it was.

That's what it is.

The type that makes you hide a smile,

before turning towards the tears.
