CHAPTER 1: THE ELEVEN CROWNS

The bus stopped with a sudden jerk.

No one spoke.

Through the tinted windows, Daiki Okoro could see nothing except a massive black structure rising out of the ground like a sealed fortress. No logos. No flags. Just a single symbol carved into the gate:

A number. Not a name.

Not a team.

A warning.

“Everyone out,” a voice barked.

The door slid open.

Cold air rushed in.

One by one, the selected players stepped down onto the concrete. There were no families waving goodbye, no press cameras, no coaches. Just silence and steel.

Daiki adjusted the strap on his bag and followed.

This wasn’t a football academy.

It felt more like a facility built to erase people.

Inside, the entrance hall stretched too far, like it was designed to make them feel small.

Around two hundred players stood scattered across the floor. Different ages. Different countries. Different styles.

But all of them had the same expression:

Confusion hiding fear.

A giant screen flickered above them.

Then a voice echoed through the hall.

Not loud.

Not emotional.

Just final.

“Welcome to Project Striker.”

The room went still.

“This program does not train players.”

“It rebuilds them.”

A pause.

“From this moment, your positions no longer matter.”

A few players looked around.

A striker whispered, “What does that mean?”

Daiki’s eyes narrowed.

No positions?

That was impossible in football.

The voice continued.

“You are no longer defenders, midfielders, or forwards.”

“You are pieces.”

The screen flashed.

A single formation appeared:

11 slots. 200 players. One final team.

Only eleven names would remain at the end.

“But there is a condition,” the voice added.

Silence tightened.

“Only one player will be allowed to choose the final system of play.”

A murmur spread through the hall.

“One leader. One philosophy. One ego.”

The screen changed again.

A countdown appeared:

SELECTION PHASE: INITIATED

Suddenly, the floor beneath them lit up.

Blue lines spread across the ground, forming a massive circular pitch inside the building. No nets. No clear goals. Only shifting zones marked by glowing numbers.

1 to 20.

Players stepped back instinctively.

Daiki looked down.

A zone number appeared near his feet:

A striker nearby laughed nervously. “So what now? We just play football in a box?”

Before anyone could answer—

The voice cut in again.

“Rule One: The field will change during play.”

“Rule Two: Scoring conditions are unknown until revealed.”

“Rule Three: Failure is permanent removal.”

A heavy silence dropped.

Then—

A final sentence.

“Begin.”

The ground shifted.

The circular pitch split into moving segments.

Zones rotated like gears.

And for the first time, someone moved.

A player from Spain burst forward instantly, ignoring everything.

A defender tried to track him—but the floor changed under his feet, pulling him out of position.

He stumbled.

The Spanish player smiled.

“Good. Chaos football.”

He kicked.

The ball wasn’t even fully visible before it slammed into a floating target that appeared mid-air.

BEEP.

A red light flashed.

One player at the edge of the field disappeared instantly.

No scream.

No warning.

Just gone.

The room froze.

Daiki’s breath slowed.

So that’s what “removal” meant.

Not elimination.

Erasure.

“Again,” the voice said.

More targets appeared.

More zones shifted.

Players started moving—not as teams—but as individuals trying not to vanish.

A midfielder nearby shouted, “We need to organize!”

No one listened.

Another player stole the ball and ran alone.

Another disappeared.

Then another.

The system rewarded only one thing:

Survival through control.

Daiki finally stepped forward.

His eyes tracked the movement patterns—not the ball.

The field wasn’t random.

It was reacting.

Adapting.

Learning.

“This isn’t football…” he muttered.

It was a test of understanding chaos.

And whoever understood it first—

Would decide who stayed human.

Across the field, a player with silver hair stopped moving completely.

He hadn’t chased the ball once.

He simply watched.

Then he smiled faintly.

“So this is the level.”

His gaze locked briefly with Daiki’s.

For a split second—

Daiki felt it.

Not pressure.

Not fear.

Something worse.

Recognition.

A rival had already been born.

The voice echoed again.

“End of Phase One approaching.”

“Remaining players: 183.”

The number dropped instantly on the screen.

Daiki’s fists tightened.

He hadn’t even touched the ball yet.

But one thing was clear.

This wasn’t about playing football.

It was about surviving a system designed to break logic itself.

And only those who adapted—

Would reach the Eleven Crowns.
