The hospital room was quiet.

Meera slowly opened her eyes.

Everything felt… blurry.

Unfamiliar.

A nurse smiled.

“You’re awake.”

Meera blinked.

“What… happened?”

“You had an accident. You’re safe now.”

She nodded weakly.

Then her eyes shifted—

And landed on Arjun.

He stood near the door.

Still. Silent.

Watching her like his world depended on it.

She frowned slightly.

“Who… is he?”

Those words hit harder than any blow.

The nurse hesitated.

“He’s your husband.”

Meera’s eyes widened.

“My… what?”

The Moment That Broke Him

Arjun stepped forward slowly.

“It’s me… Meera.”

She looked at him carefully.

Trying to remember.

Trying to feel something.

But there was nothing.

No recognition.

No warmth.

Only confusion.

“I’m sorry,” she said softly.

“I don’t… know you.”

Arjun’s hand clenched slightly.

But his face stayed calm.

“It’s okay.”

It wasn’t okay.

Not even close.

Later

The doctor explained everything to Meera.

She listened silently.

Then asked:

“So… I married him?”

“Yes.”

She glanced at Arjun again.

Her expression unreadable.

“…Why?”

That question cut deeper than anything.

Arjun looked away.

For the first time—

He didn’t have an answer.

A New Beginning… or an End?

That night, Meera lay awake.

Her mind was full of questions.

Her life… her marriage… her past.

And the man sitting quietly beside her bed—

A man who claimed to be her husband…

Felt like a complete stranger.

Meanwhile, Arjun sat there the entire night.

Not sleeping.

Not moving.

Just watching her.

As if afraid—

If he looked away…

He might lose her forever.
