Hi Cody, I'm Lovestoreadandwrite. I entered your contest 4 days to the deadline, but unfortunately was prevented from developing it much. Here's the little draft I started and I hope we can be good partners in the future.

A few days after Lila’s sixteenth birthday, she woke up to a strange feeling. It was different from anything she had ever experienced. And odd. She looked around. As she entered the bathroom, she noticed her feet didn’t touch the ground. She pounded her feet on the floor. No sound. No contact. She panicked. 
“Dad! What’s going on?! I-I’m floating!”Her dad, Robert, came slowly up the stairs. “Can I enter, Lila?””Yeah…” she replied, voice trailing off in terror.He entered. His face was a complicated mix of emotions. Sadness, understanding, relief, and every other emotion in tiny amounts.”Dad?”Silence. No answer.“You’re supposed to be surprised. Do you know what is going on?” Lila was steadying herself.”Unfortunately, yes.” He paused for a while.”You know what I used to tell you about your mom? That she was a genius?”Lila nodded.”Well, she cooked up a theory. The biological transcendence theory. It stated that with some modifications, humans could be made to do what we previously thought impossible.”He paused again. Lila’s mouth was wide open.”She used me as a human experiment?” whispered Lila, afraid of the answer.”No. Your mother would never do such a thing. But there are so many people out there in the world who would want to try. They tried to coax your mother into telling them the exact procedure. Your mother, knowing their intentions, refused. But these are people who would go to extreme lengths for their goals. They ambushed your mother. You were with her. They kidnapped her and tortured her. When she still refused, they used you. You were tiny then, so cute, and barely a year old. You mother loved you so much, because you were the only child we were able to have. They threatened to torture you too and kill you if she went on refusing. She eventually gave up the information, but to prevent the news from spreading, they killed her, and decided to use you as their first test subject. They tried over and over again, but you didn’t show any signs of change. A year later, someone from the organization found some files related to it, and reported them. They refused to confess, but the leader’s daughter had once heard her father talking about it. She denounced her father, and the leaders, along with some staff, were executed. The person who reported it mysteriously died a few days before the execution. Thanks to the information, I found you. I brought you back home, terrified, but safe. Three years ago, I was cleaning out the study when I found your mother’s research for the theory on animals. The experiments didn’t take effect unless the animal’s body was mature. I figured if this was true for you, it would be roughly around sixteen to eighteen years old. But it seems either your mother purposely didn’t tell them, or they missed that detail.”He stopped. Lila was too shocked to speak. Robert continued.”Ever since you turned sixteen, I’ve been looking for signs of anything strange. I was restless, torn between the thought that the experiments didn’t work, or it still needed some time. Now that it has  happened, I’m relieved, but I’m also worried about you. Do you feel sick or anything?”Lila checked herself. As she concentrated, her hearing deepened, her eyes saw more detail, she could feel even the tiniest air currents. She could smell the faint scent of her room. She opened her mouth. “I guess I’m… OKAY!!!!” She slapped her hand over her mouth, surprised. Her dad too stared at her. “What the…” He trailed off.”I think all my senses are sharpened. I don’t know about taste yet, but I’m sure it’s also sharpened.” she said, her voice carefully low this time. “What will happen to me, Dad? Will I become a test subject?””We’ll try to keep you in check. Don’t worry for now. Just stay at home today. I don’t want anything to happen to you on your first day. You can also use it to test yourself as to what you can do. I’ll give you your mother’s research papers. You can figure out what exactly you can do. But rest assured. If you can’t control something, we’ll find a way.” her father reassured her.
