I will never be like you

I will not be the monster my children hide from

I will not be the looming fear

And I will never be like him

The prettiest

Dangerous

Sounds

The cold envelopes me

Tugging at me

Pulling me to it

To keep me away

From things that might

Hurt me

After all

Can't have that,

The cold speaks

With a voice that is

Sweet

Like sugar

But too sweet

The kind of sweet that

Makes you sick
