It was just after 6 A.M. on the fourth day since I had called Fi, that my phone rang. I hurriedly picked it up, seeing it was her. "I need to vent." She demanded right away.
My heart picked up as I did the math in my head. The U.S. was about 6 hours behind Croatia. That meant she was calling me at midnight. What had Michael done? I swallowed, trying to keep myself calm. ~She sounds ok.~ I reminded myself before talking, "So vent."
"I finally got my dinner, which, I mean I can't really complain about the wait seeing as he's scrounging around with no back-up or anything, just trying to get by. And it was a really nice restaurant he took me to... He still has all his charm." Oh this was so making me uneasy. "So I make sure he has plenty to drink right?" I blinked. Maybe Michael wasn't such a monster if Fiona was just mad cause Michael didn't give her the whole night she wanted. It really was hard to pin-point what he was like without meeting him. And let's not forget the most hanged-up feature about him, he was a spy. I do not like spies. "We go back to his place and things are going so good, we're kissing and I'm getting him riled up, then this damn muscle comes up behind me and fricken pulls a gun on us!" I wasn't sure whether to be amused or terrified. This was just coming too close to what had happened to Phoebe. "So I take care of him right? Do you think Michael would be, I don't know, grateful? Or turned on like any other guy? Hell no! He even has the gull to say violence is foreplay for me! The asshole!"
I frowned, trying to take that all in. "Okay...." I finally managed, "So what are you gonna do now?"
Fiona sighed and seemed to deflate some on the phone. "Now that I've vented some, I'll just take some time to cool off before meeting up with him again." That really opened my eyes to how much Fi liked this guy. I mean, I always knew by the way she talked about him that Michael McBride was the one that got away...but Fiona wasn't this...patient. She really wanted him.
I pursed my lips. "Why was someone pulling a gun on you two?"
Fiona sighed again, "His neighbor's a drug dealer. Apparently Michael pissed him off somehow."
I didn't like the sound of that at all. I was so nervous I felt like I would puke. "Just...be careful Fi."
There was a pause on the other end that I barely noticed. "Oh honey, come now. Drug dealers, nor gangs can take me down." She crooned over the phone and I felt like crying. My past really made me weak. "Hey, honey, why don't you vacation down here in Florida. I'll introduce you to Michael, and maybe he'll let you take care of his neighbor problem. I tried not to get so emotional, "Apparently he hasn't." I replied angrily.
"What, that muscle? Please, all it took was one headbutt and a tap from my gun to bring him down. Come on honey, I can take care of myself, so dry those tears."
"I'm not crying." I seethed past clenched teeth.
"Yeah, ok. Anyway. Come down and ease your mind. You can't get rid of me that easily Sweetcheeks. Come on down and we'll raise some hell together, hmm?"
"Yeah, I guess I can't really settle down here....It's just...I-I'm sorry...you know..." I couldn't really say that I was comparing what was happening to Fiona with what happened to Phoebe. It wasn't fair to her.
"It's alright Jordana." Fi whispered. "I know what it's like to lose a little sister. If I ever went through a similar situation with you, I'd lock you in my basement and never let you out."
I smirked at that, trying to calm down some. "Thanks for understanding Fi. I suppose I'll drop by my Uncle and Aunt's. They live half an hour away from Miami."
